I'm going to try to fill the Earthquakes void with immersion into Arena Football.

Big win for the SaberCats Sunday at Arizona. They have a brutal road stretch coming up (next 3 are away) but with some talented players eligible to come off IR in the coming weeks (Omarr Smith returned this week, thank God), the SaberCats could get on a decent roll. And with no one playing over .500 in the Western Division the race is still up for grabs.

Boo!!!!!! Sorry, but I have no interest in the SaberCats.

    1) There's no reason to play football indoors in California.

    2) They insult the intelligence of the American male, trying to sell their product by exploiting cheerleader T&A (e.g. large color advertisements for "cheerleader tryouts" in the sports section of the MN and on billboards).

    3) NFL and college football is more than enough football for me. I want to concentrate my energy on supporting soccer in the Bay Area in whatever way I can.

I would be much, much more willing to attend a SJ Giants game than a SaberCats game.

I used to know one of the SaberKittens. But she got married and moved to Modesto.

And, unfortunately, she was the SJSU cheer coach who's been named in the civil damages suit filed by Rechelle Sneath, the SJSU cheerleader who was paralyzed in an accident during practice a couple years ago.

To express why I don't like them, and maybe try to convince a few people to spend their south bay sports dollar elsewhere: SJ Giants, Frogs, SkyRockets, Sharks, college basketball, etc.

Don't worry, once y'all get into discussing how the team's doing, etc., I'll go away.

Got a corporate/club suite for a Sabercats game last year - do this, if possible. Helps if you can preorder beer to fill the fridge before the game.

The San Jose SaberCats lost the American Conference Championship to the Chicago Rush today 59-56, so they won't be playing in ArenaBowl XX in Las Vegas next week :(

The only positive in this is that the SaberCats won't be surpassing the Earthquakes this season as the Bay Area pro sports team with the most championship wins in the 21st Century thus far (each team still has two). ;)

Well, hey, they were down 10 pts. with 37 seconds left and ran back a kickoff, and almost got a fumble recovery on the next, so they certainly showed heart. So close.

True. There seems to be a requirement in San Jose teams to show heart, and they usually don't renege on that requirement. :)

Still, there won't be any more SaberCats - as well as SaberKittens - until next February. :(

Good luck to the San Jose SaberCats on its attempt to win its fourth Arena Bowl title when it takes on the Philadelphia Soul (owned by, among others, Jon Bon Jovi) in Arena Bowl XII in New Orleans on ABC/ABC-HD on Sunday, July 27th! [IMG]

The Jon Bon Jovi connection alone should motivate more people to back the Sabercats in this one. Hope they crush without mercy.
