"Report: 49ers, Chiefs have deal in place for Smith" (Wednesday, 2/27/13) Over his seven-year career in San Francisco, Alex Smith made 75 starts and compiled a 38-36-1 record. (USA TODAY IMAGES) -G
I also like the fact that the 49ers' got something back (draft picks), but who now will become the starting QB if Colin Kaepernick gets injured? -G
His backup, whoever that turns out to be. You can't stockpile talent in the NFL- costs too much money and will ultimately affect team chemistry. Alex Smith can start somewhere. Let the boy go and wish him well.

"Report: 49ers acquire Boldin from Ravens" (Monday, 3/11/13) Anquan Boldin had six receptions for 104 yards and one touchdown in the Super Bowl against the 49ers. (USA TODAY IMAGES) -G
That seemed to be Anquan Boldin's reaction as well. "Boldin 'shocked' by trade to 49ers" (Tuesday, 3/12/13) The trade is expected to become official after Anquan Boldin travels to the Bay Area for a physical upon his return from Senegal. (USA TODAY IMAGES) -G
As of this posting, Alex Smith, Randy Moss, Delanie Walker, Dashon Goldson, Isaac Sopoaga and David Akers are all no longer on the team. -G
I'm still amazed at how quickly they put this up. The first time I drove by, I thought "Wow! The quakes stadium is looking great!!" lol In other news, some more depth: http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_22782200/report-49ers-sign-defensive-tackle-glenn-dorsey
Indeed! Ironically, this recent pic was taken almost five months after the San Jose Earthquakes new stadium's official groundbreaking ceremony. Will he be enough to make up for our player losses on the defensive line? -G
Sorry to reply so late, but... The bolded. Moss and Junior Seau are two players I really wanted to see get rings but Seau's Chargers couldn't get it done in 1994 against you guys, and he and Moss' Pats lost to the Giants in 2007. I really feel bad for the guy having to lose Super Bowls with two teams, especially after the NFC title game debacle in the Metrodome against Atlanta in his rookie season.
Is it sort of like Don Mattingly with the New York Yankees, a team that won an MLB World Series the year before he joined the team's minor leagues and next won it again the year following his retirement, but never during his tenure there? -G
"49ers acquire QB McCoy to compete with Tolzien" (Monday, 4/1/13) Colt McCoy will compete with Scott Tolzien to back up Colin Kaepernick at quarterback. (USA TODAY IMAGES) -G
It wasn't that- I didn't even know this, but it's a shame for Mattingly. If he's in the Hall, that might serve as some consolation, tho. No, Seau and Moss were/are favorite players of mine. Seau from his USC days and Moss because he caught so much shit from the media during his time at Marshall and his rookie season.
