I will take defense over offense any day. Still though the Niners need TD's in the red zone not FG's on Sat. Only time Akers needs to be on the field is kicking XP's and kicking off after TD's
14-3-0. The 49ers advance to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since January 1998. Next up: the NFC Championship Game either at the Green Bay Packers or in Candlestick Park against the New York Giants (to be determined tomorrow). -G
A New York Giants win today would be a double-edged sword for the 49ers. On the one hand, it'd allow the Niners to host the NFC Championship Game. On the other hand, it'd also mean that the Giants were good enough to defeat the nearly-undefeated Green Bay Packers in Green Bay and thus may very well do the same in Candlestick Park. -G
I was hoping to see the Packers rather than the Giants. I felt we had a better chance of making Green Bay one-dimensional and grinding out a win on the frozen tundra. They were wounded prey in my opinion, and New York took advantage of it before we had the opportunity. The Giants D-line is menacing and their running game might be the best we will face this season. I think we're headed for another classic next Sunday.
I am loving this, I can't wait. It's going to be a tough game, let's hope our offense keeps up the rhythm.
The Giants and Niners are very evenly matched in my opinion. The game will be decided by which defensive front is better able to impose its will on the opposition. The Giants harrassed Rodgers all day, and the Niners O-line has had some ugly moments this year, like the Baltimore game.
Whoever has the ball last wins. If the line is larger than SF-2 for the home field advantage then something is wrong. This IS the super bowl. Both of these teams would spank the Patriots or Ravens. The NFC is so much stronger than the AFC right now. Let's have some fun!
