It would be nice if we had coverage and analysis like this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...l-decisions-facing-d-c-united-this-offseason/

While I love the new possesion style of play we have, unfortunatley it puts more responsibilty to score on the forwards who haven't gotten it done. We are tops in the league for quality chances created and near last in the league for goals. Discuss amongst yourselves and have a nice day!
We've been knee jerking for a while. Not advocating a "Fire Dom" thread or a "we are as bad as Dallas" thread, but is there a stronger title that represents the way I or we feel about our team? " the Official frustrated fan" thread?
Sadly, as much as i harrass the mexican tri fans, its just a matter of time before they wake up and get better. They have awesome players. We, on the other hand, dont have forwards who can score.
I absolutely agree that we've been figured out. And the big problem is that we don't have ANY player that can/will break out of the mold of...possession, build up, attack from the wings. I said this after the Red Bulls on Sunday. Defenses probably love playing the Dynamo. CB's stay home and clear our crosses all day long. No one is gonna run at them down the center of the field.
I actually think Dom will adapt in the offseason to either changing styles a bit or players. But with the salary cap issues, not sure how much we will be able to upgrade and we may lose some guys we would want to keep. Realistically, we are going to have to find, develop, or get production out of some young cheap guys next year. Last point, I think some of the soccer stats like chances created and especially possession stats can really be misread because the often don't (and can't) take into consideration the context of the game. Like possession when we get down early - it looks good on paper but lousy in reality. A few years ago I noticed that in almost all wins we possessed the ball less because we got ahead and packed it in.
Is this the point in time where we buy Rafa Marquez to lead the team, and give the defense some bite? Our reserve/USOC side has been absolutely dreadful for a couple of seasons. The match last night is just another humiliation that we have suffered when playing reserves.
Standings by PPG: East 1. HOU 1.67 --------------- 2. CHI 1.46 3. CLB 1.43 4. NYR 1.42 5. MON 1.36 6. FCD 1.23 7. TFC 1.00
My buddies and I picked up on this trait of our teams under Dom early on in our first years. When our guys score first we are most likely going to win at home and at the least find a way to settle for a draw at home or if the opposition roars back, our guys had the grit to secure more goals to earn the hard fought win. Yet if Dom's teams get scored on first, specifically earlier on here at home, then our teams generally struggle mightly as we are very poor at chasing a game. Well this trait is a megatheme of our club...err sorry FO, our franchise,...it is still with us here in '13 and add to our scoring woes as it is, and limited cap space in our offseason, I don't see much changing as it stands.
The standings are worthless. They aren't a meaningful competition. I am referring to real competitions for silverware, and allocation like USOC, and CCL.
Our reserves lost to Dallas starters: FC Dallas: Chris Seitz; Zach Loyd, George John (Stephen Keel 88), Matt Hedges, Jair Benitez; Jackson, Michel (Bobby Warshaw 78), Andrew Jacobsen, Fabian Castillo (David Ferreira 72); Kenny Cooper, Eric Hassli
2013 It's not quite done and dusted yet and here are a couple of things that it has brought us (so far): Largest ever Defeat by an MLS side. Largest ever Home Defeat by an MLS side. (achieved that margin to the same team twice this season!) Double digit MLS Loss total. (only other Season was 2010 and DNQ for Playoffs that year) Knocked out of USOC by FC Dallas. Knocked out of CCL group consisting of Arabe Unido and W Connection. Hope not to add: Lost to the worst MLS Team 2013 on the last day of the season! DNQ for Playoffs (because of above) 2010 Season was worse on point total but can't hold a candle to the "lowlights" assembled so far this season.
We also lost El Capitan to f'n FC Southern Oklahoma on that blatant hand ball at the death. Fuking 2013!
You forgot the overreaching effort of the FO to ban a guy from the stadium for using a common playground term to refer to Robbie Rogers
