Morrow's showing he can hang at MLS level - and if anything, will be able to replace Corrales sooner rather than later. He also knows how to overlap and push the attack up the side, and is quick enough to get back if need be. I'd like to see him get more minutes. At least if Corrales injures himself again we know there's nothing to worry about.

Yallop would probably like to play Ward out-of-position at LB over Morrow if he could.

He did well in the last game. Will he continue to do well? We will see. That's why I hope he gets to play in the coming games. We can't get any worse than that.

As for Ward, I like what he did last season on both sides. I agree that he is better as RB.

Corrales is getting worse this season (together with our defensive overall) and other teams just keeping running at him. With the kind of performance Convey put out this season, the left side is going down hill. That's why I want Marrow to have a chance.

I read Justin Morrow made league minimum of $40k last year. Wonder what he is making now?

Grrr.. So they plan on starting Corrales at LB the rest of the season? Who's the bench depth there, Ward? Convey(!)? Oh well. Seems like for every good move the FO makes they make a bad one and continue with bad ones.

He'll get playing time. Hopefully they're smart enough to realize he's really a left midfielder. But the answer is that Ward is healthy finally and Yallop considers him a viable L back even though he's a right back. And Yallop likely won't bench Ramiro and Ward will be his backup provided he's not playing on the right.

Nobody -- we sent him away when we were deep in outside backs to give him some more playing time, and when we needed him, we bring him back. It's not at all different than what the Sharks do every year vis-a-vis the worcester sharks...

    This and That.

Sorry, I should have included that link in the initial post.

We're only deep in left backs if you think that Convey is a left back, or rather, that Convey should play left back for us. He shouldn't. He's our best left mid, and he contributes a lot to our offense from left mid, not nearly as much from left back.

Ward is acceptable as a left back. Morrow might prove to be a decent left back. Corrales is flat out terrible and should not be allowed on the pitch in our kit ever again.

So whether or not any one is eating crow on this, they ought to be. We need Justin (or someone better than Justin) at the left back spot. Corrales is long passed it.

    GOOOOO QUAAAAAAAKES!!!!!!!!
    Fire Frank!!!

He is one of the nicest Quakes, great personality. and he's a cutie (though I preferred the dreads to the shorter hair). If he can own left back too, so much the better!

As much noise as I make about how he should be playing wide, it's clear that he is doing really well playing centrally too. I'm a big proponent of speed on the back line, especially recovery speed, and he has it in spades.

Anyone remember that play in the NY match where there was a well-weighted thru ball and Henry had a bead on it. I thought it was going to be a goal, but it ended relatively harmlessly with Busch collecting the ball. I couldn't quite figure out how it was snuffed out so easily but then on a replay I thought it looked like Morrow had come out of nowhere to beat Henry to the ball or possibly slow him down. It was so fast it was almost as if you couldn't see him :). Anyone else see that, or am I hallucinating again?

In any case I've seen him do similar things in other matches where he kind of just swooshes in, puts his body between the attacker and the goal, and completely snuffs out the attack.

Yep, nearly as fast as Marvell Wynn, but a better soccer brain.

A much better soccer brain. Going back to the first game of the season it seemed clear that Morrow could read the game in a way many defenders don't. He was stepping in and breaking up plays by anticipating the opponent. I hope the added pressure of having Bernardez out doesn't get to him. He's been rock solid thus far.

Justin also has better foot skills than Wynn.

He was outstanding against RSL on both sides of the ball. You could never say that for Wynn any time I've see him play.
