Paula Deen used to be okay. She was calm, quiet, down-to-earth & frequently very funny. When her sons first started showing up on the show, they were funny, too.

Then something happened and she turned into a caricature of herself. This happens a lot on the Food Network. It happened to Rachael Ray,too.

Sandra Lee's food is way worse than Paula's. I watch Sandra Lee for the express purpose of making fun of her on another message board. Yes, I am sometimes unfaithful to bigsoccer.com. Sue me.

Used too, but it's sucked since they switched the set last year (or was it the year before?).

That set is three years old if it's a day. But the set isn't the problem. The audience of trained, salivating seals is the problem.

Yep. According to this the set was introduced in 2004.

My guess is that the market folks start suggesting that they play up their "quirks", and you see this.

....and they've totally botched my Saturday morning lineup. I used to watch the Dave Lieberman show, Boy meets Grill, and your favorite, Guy's Big Bite. (I think he's a better fit on the diner show.) Now, it is two shows on healthy eating (not interested), and Sandra Lee.

Two shows on healthy eating? You don't mean Robin Miller, do you? Because that's not what her show is about. I'm not sure what it's about because it sucks - it's another show about cooking for people who don't like to either cook or eat. On TWOP they call her "Skeletor."

I agree with you that Guy isn't terrible on DD&D. Also, his food has improved a bit this season, even as his set got more ridiculous.

I like Guy. Triple D is great. I want to try every place he goes.

Has anyone here been to any of the D's he's featured?

So you wouldn't be interested in eating at the fast food joint/shack in the middle of nowhere, Texas that serves almost gourmet foods & wine?

I'm not saying I would make a vacation to go eat at one of the places he's featured but if I was ever in a town that had one of these places I'd stop in to eat at almost every one he's shown.

I hope your hair didn't get messed up when my joke flew over your head. :D

I would love to eat at most of the places he talks about in Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. Like I said, I don't mind that show so much. I just wish he's lose the schtick and act like the 40yo man that he is.

Paula's gig seems to be using way too much butter, like that's a good thing.

Also it bugs me that Paula wears all her diamond rings while puting her hands into the food. Those rings must be getting grimy! Yuk.

Finally caught a new DDD show last night like at 1:30/2 am. Went to a place in New Hampshire that makes American Chop Suey. Damn does that bring me back to elementary school lunch at Lincoln Central Elementary School in Lincoln, RI. If you don't know what New England American Chop Suey is, here is a description: http://www.boston-online.com/glossary/american_chop_suey.html

I've been raised calling it "goolash". I think that's a midwestern name or something.

Goulash is the proper term, actually:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goulash

I've never heard "American chop suey" until now.

You mean you've got an issue with his peroxide hair and the Tony Soprano shirt?

So do I, but his show is entertaining.

And the "off the hooks", and "this is money" and the food going "downtown" and his friends, including one named Dirty Pee. All those things make me want to scream.

In the continuing dumbing down of quality on the Food Network we now have Ingrid Hoffman, Simply Deliciouso, a Latino fusion cooking show. How can someone named Ingrid do authentic Latin cooking? She can't. Though she's definitely latino. Columbian to be exact. She's pretty to look at. Actually very hot to look at and when she says hay que rico, she immediately raises the blood pressure of red blooded males. That said, think of a classier, much slimmer, and sexier version of Rachel Ray who still has issues cooking. Giada she is not. What the hell is the Food Network doing?

Well, yesterday Sandra Lee used a jar of carrot baby food to make carrot muffins. That is the first time in my entire life that I've seen baby food in an adult recipe.

Baby food. Because no one has the three minutes or so it would take to puree a carrot in a blender or food processor.

The sad part is that many people would kill for an authentic latin cooking show on the Food Network.

I agree 100 percent Barb. It's such a shame. Clearly they hired Hoffmann for her looks and not for her ability to cook. It would be great to have a real Spanish or Latin chef with a cooking show. They are out there. Heck, it's in the Latino personality to be vivacious, engaging and passionate about food this is all they can find? With the name Ingrid Hoffmann. I mentioned to my wife why the hell couldn't they hire someone named Maria Gonzalez and Maria Rodriguez. Dios mio! They can't even hire a Latina with a real Spanish surname.

Clearly Paula and Inna can cook. I guess of the young women on the Food Network only Giada can cook. Perhaps Andrea? I don't watch her show enough to have an opinion. Seems wine is really her thing.

I watch Sandra only to see how much cleavage she's showing. She is a good looking women. Her food, I rather eat a frozen pizza.

    This is the recipe.

I haven't actually watched this episode yet; I'm waiting for my SO to go to bed so I don't annoy him with it.
