I don't get the current beards craze at all. When I see a bearded man my initial reaction is that he is probably gay. Maybe it's just a generational thing.
lol A lot of dudes who grow out beards seem to pride themselves on it, as if to assert manhood I, however, grow out a Dexter-esque beard (red beard, brown hair) so it would look ridiculous if I grew one out haha, plus they itch like hell after a week

Using conditioner in a beard makes it significantly less itchy. One of the greatest tips I've learned in my life.
I just whatever I have around. But there are kinds specifically made for beards. I've never used them though.
My problem is I'm not your typical hairy Italian. I can grow a beard ok, but not full, the hair won't come in full on my cheeks. Plus I really don't get stubble, I could never have the 5 o'clock shadow look. It takes me forever to have a beard come in somewhat full, literally months. Meanwhile a good friend needs to shave a couple times a week he's so god damn hairy. He's a short Italian guy who looks like an ewok if he didn't shave. It saddens me.
