Reps! How long can it possibly take to sign a permit? I mean everyone is on board with no opposition so why is it taking so long?

Too bad he didn't mention anything aboput the many calls he is getting to trade for RJ! With 25,000 tickets sold, I wonder what they would have got against the LA GALS? You would think until the stadium is built, they could add some more temporary bleachers to Buck Shaw. At least another 2-3k, behind the goal or in the corners. It will be cool to see all those guys once again. Wonder where Eric Wynalda is?
WOW ! 25000 tickets sold ? with a little effort from the FO to market the game ! can you imagine if the marketing will be apermanent class A ? then bear the question why are we building a "small" stadium ?
Yeah I don't get it either. The good thing is, the stadium construction hasn't begun yet so I guess they can still change their plans.......
Notice that he said was excited until he clicked on the link. New is a relative word. "New" as of September 7, 2010 2:28pm: Quakes New Stadium Designs
Dave was at the Old Pro last night, taller and better looking than in the pictures. He did not remember our phone conversation at all. I guess I will forgive him.
Mr. Kaval has a ton on his plate--I will give him fair credit here: unlike many bigwigs who would rather hang out with their cronies at the "gentleman's clubs" he is trying to cater to all the fans to see how to improve the product and to make it better on the field. Obviously he's not on the player acquisition side (which goes to John Doyle) but since his realm is more on the marketing/promotion/business side he's trying to see what the fans think and how to make the team's footprint more visible around the Bay Area. There are some kinks and issues but I'll give him a chance--his mingling around with the fans speaks volumes. I'm not very keen on mingling with the FO staff but just to listen/hear what they think and their perspectives on what's happening is more worth the while. I acknowledge that he does a better job of communicating at least than Alexi Lalas back in the day (who really is more suited for the broadcast booth than towards running a team). ----- Of course, of all the stuff we can mention offline to him about bigsoccer...
I was not serious about Dave (well, serious that he didn't remember me, but really, I was not devasted). So at that event I was talking to several FO guys, and one made some comments that I found interesting. I won't even pretend that I remember them anywhere near verbatim, but the essence was that Wolff makes everyone pretty uncomfortable (and he did not say that, but that's what I inferred from what he did say.) Dave Kaval has a lot of stakeholders that he has to please, and I can imagine that mediating between the coaches' demands and the owners' restrictions is one of the toughest parts of the job.
He's from Generation Z, remember? Anything that happened before the age of Harry Potter is what "old people" talk about.
"Even if the old days were golden days, the past is a terrible place to live" - Marillion I'm more than old enough to remember those guys and those games. While I think it's cool to see some of the '94 World Cup players, it doesn't begin to turn my crank like see a current Winning Quakes team playing beautiful soccer. As if, right? Seriously, some of you were more pumped about seeing the old guys than you were concerned about how badly our team sucks right now. The past is a terrible place to live guys, GO QUAKES!!!!!!! Fire Frank and JD!! - Mark
No one is endorsing living in the past, but openly boasting of being apathetic of the past is not an admirable quality.

Oh, please. They weren't old then. They aren't even old now. They played way beyond expectations, they did not embarrass themselves or our country, and because we were hosts, US soccer had to commit to starting MLS. I thank all involved. We are nowhere close to where I have always hoped we will be, and that is having 60 thousand in the stands singing, chanting and cheering their home side to prevail, in 30 or so stadiums around our country. I won't live to see it, but I trust that one day my grandchildren's children will pop a cold one in honor of what we are doing today.
