too bad for Ortiz he was winning the fight and I'm sure he would have stopped Lopez, dude was taking some hard shots....I was really looking forward to watching Canelo/Ortiz.....looks like that won't happen come Sept. 15.

Some of you guys need to get your jaw broken in a fight......

I've had my jaw broken...uncomfortable as hell, you can't bite right, and it's distracting. I mean days later it feels like hell and it's hard to focus even on the easiest task...much less fight with one. It's not like a bloody nose, it's much worse.

    De plano.

Que tal Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo? Hace tiempo que Cotto viene sonando como posible rival del Canelo. Seria un pe-le-on!

Lo unico que pido es que PORFAVOR no muestren las dos peleas del Canelo y la de Chavez Jr. en la misma fecha, por el bien del deporte.

He's had a big win in between. Overall, this can't be good for the kid's career but he's still young and he hits very hard. He'll have a couple more impressive wins. My point was that you are quick to write him off completely but you don't hesitate to chalk your hands up and swing from Nery's foreskin even though he's done almost nothing for five years.

Victor Ortiz is a bitch. When the going gets tough in the ring, he is guaranteed to do something stupid and for this reason, I do not care for him. Oh sure, I was looking forward to Canelo-Ortiz, only because it was to be an action-packed fight and a step up in competition for Canelo. But Mr. Ortiz is a blemish on the sport and always tends to nullify the good things he does with stupidity.

And I am not talking about the "quitting." At least not when it relates to the last fight. Whether he could go on or not is not for me to say. He may just not be made of that kind of stuff. I felt Ortiz deserved the broken jaw. When he saw that Lopez was not going to roll over and the fight was not playing out the way he thought it should, Ortiz intentionally punched Josesito in the back of the head. That was an aimed shot. He almost went into the "apologetic" mode we saw in his last fight, except the ref got in between. He could have seriously hurt Josesito, illegally. That type of stuff disgusts me. Along with the headbutt last September, you can tell that Ortiz was looking at causing some serious damage with his dirty tricks, but he then goes into being all sorry. Has this guy not learned?

That being said, the fight itself was really good. The Soto-Matthysee fight was really good as well. When the commentating team said that none of these guys have ever been knocked down, you knew for sure someone was going to hit the deck. Matthysee should be undefeated. The Judah fight was his, but I suppose I could see where it might have gone the other way. The Alexander fight was a robbery, hometown fixin'. This guy has pop. Can this guy get the Khan-Garcia winner?

I read in the LA times that Ortiz's jaw was broken in the 5th....or 6th, I can't remember....yet he kept fighting until the 10th.

After the Maidana fight I get the criticism that Ortiz had caught.....but he showed balls against Berto and was beating up Lopez....Lopez didn't "roll over" and I don't think Ortiz was expecting him to, but you gotta admit that Lopez was getting beat up, as game has he was he was losing the fight.

    "deserved a broken jaw"

IDK man I get the criticisms on the kid but I honestly cant hate on him cause I honestly believe he ain't all there,I think he could've been great if not for his mental instability he's physically superior hits hard and has decent speed,oh well hope he can recover and maybe become a better fighter.

Not questioning Cotto's heart. But Cotto had nothing to do with Margarito retiring.

So he got his jaw broken in the 5/6th round? I call BS on that, he wasn't complaining about it in the corner. Ortiz himself said it broke bc he has his mouth open (at the end of the 10th) when he got hit.

Lol @ Ortiz's trainer pushing him away from the mic so he won't say any pussy statement like in the Maidana fight.

Apparently there were two fractures. The first happened in the fifth or sixth round. From that point on, Ortiz's manager says, he couldn't really close his mouth. The second, more serious, fracture (resulted from aggravation of the first fracture) occurred in the 9th. Everyone saw that one. He really wasn't getting beaten up, which is why I give him the benefit of the doubt here as far as quitting goes. The thing that bothered me was the fouling. He hit low a bunch of times and he went behind the head. The kid's head is messed up.

Taking into consideration Ortiz's track record, it's pretty clear he quit AGAIN! I wanted to see him win, only to have Canelo beat the living quit out of him, but props to Josesito.

The Mathysse vs Soto fight was also a great fight. Lucas is one powerful mofo. I would love to see him in against Khan, so that he would break that puto's glass jaw.

Now to wait and see what's next for Canelo. Schafaer said they had 3 opponents in mind. One of them would make it a huge PPV (Cotto?) The other two he said would air on HBO or Showtime, and even the possibility of it being broadcast free on CBS.

Rumors are K9 is in talks with Golden Boy and could very well be Canelo's next opponent. Another belt for Canelo, sounds good to me.

Canelo v. Cotto would be insane at this point but I'm not sure either side will jump at it right now.

He also claims that he wanted a shot at Sergio Martinez but that his team told him that fight would not be attractive to the fans, or something along those lines. Basically the same thing, they claim it will not sell.

I hear Cotto v Floyd II is a real possibility for December at Madison Square Garden.
