He didn't even give Ampai a year. Twelve games, only five starts, 546 minutes total. His last appearance was July 30th, as a sub in the 0 - 2 loss to DCUntied. Best player in NCAA last season, and our pathetic, stupid, overly emotional coach has already tossed Ampai on the trash heap. Frank is a frigging moron. Ampai will go elsewhere, either in the expansion draft (my first guess), or in the waiver draft, or as part of a trade. And he will play well for whoever gets him. We suck. GOOOOOO QUAAAAAAAAKES!!!!!!! Fire Frank!! - Mark
I don't understand why Ampai isn't playing more. he was +5 goal differential whenever he was on the field - and the team was winning. Not bad for a losing team.
well he is playing the most difficult position to transfer to the next level at, i remember most of us discussing we would probably need to apply the 3 year rule for him and let him get seasoning in the reserves. turns that is indeed the case. I think hes ready now, but hopefully we can stash him on the reserves and he can be a former castoff turned starter like Morrow.
Most likely, Frank and JD will leave Ampai exposed, and if they do, he'll get taken. He's potentially a franchise player. There is no way LimpAct will not take him if he isn't protected. It's tragic that Frank does not see the value in Ampai. I think it is critical that Frank and JD both be shown the door before the expansion draft. If they are in charge, we're going to lose a good young player. (Either Ampai or someone else.) Puke. GOOOOOO QUAAAAAAKES!!!!!!!! Fire Frank!!!! - Mark
Unfortunately, Mark seems to have read the room correctly. Ampai should have been getting pt this season with the goal of moving him into a starting role next year. I can only hope someone has a moment of clarity and keeps him protected.
Thanks. For some reason, Frank and JD seem to be higher on Baca than Ampai. Now Baca is a good player, no doubt about it, but there is a solid chance that Ampai is even better. Worst case, we keep them both and we're set at a-mid for at least a few years. But Frank's doghouse is huge. Somehow, players fall into disrepute and rarely get a second chance. We have a decent core of players, if only Frank knew what to do with them and how to motivate the team. In the few matches Ampai played, he looked pretty sharp. He sees the game well, he looks to combine with his teammates. But in those matches, we were still playing Frank's beloved "direct attacking" scheme, so Ampai's best skills didn't really fit. Now that we are playing a more possession oriented style, Ampai would be great, but Frank won't give him another look. I'm depressed. GOOOOOOO QUAAAAAAAKES!!!!!!!!!! Fire Frank!!!! - Mark
Remember Morrow got in the same boat last year, and now hes starting. I wouldnt read too much into Ampai's end to this season, rookies not playing is the norm for Yallop. It doesnt nescessarily that their is anything wrong here.
If he does as well as some hope, will Thailand Cap him? I have watched a King's Cup game in stadium. I'm pretty sure the ref was paid properly... Another league match I saw in Bangkok - a guy with a batman hat and tights ran around the stadium all game, and cleared the bleachers to get on the field post game. Needless to say, he was there, with the team, page one sports section the next day.
Yallop seems to care a great deal about whether certain players get their contract bonuses and leads to strange things like playing hurt players. He values some guys getting to make their money more than things the rest of value, such as winning.

I really hope that these occasional articles about Ampai mean that we are going to keep him. Maybe Montreal will take Nana off our hands and leave Ampai alone. Maybe they'll take Convey and leave Ampai alone. But I think there is a good chance that they take him. It's so frustrating when your team is run by pinheads. Ya know? GOOOOOO QUAAAAAAAKES!!!!!! Fire Frank!!! - Mark
Im not sure why your so convinced Montreal will take him. Its possible, but I think you overestimate Ampai's percieved value.
yeah I think theyre taking Convey, pointing in our general direction, and laughing hysterically while they do. Ampai should be safe. I hope he is an integral part of our team next year too. We could do some good stuff on the field with he and Baca on the pitch at the same time.
We could have done some stuff with Geovanni and Eduardo on the field at the same time too... Doesn't mean Frank will let Ampi & Baca stay there any longer then it takes to sub one of them off...
If we protect Convey, so that we can trade him for value, then I think there's a good chance that Montreal takes Ampai. As an expansion club, it makes sense to take some young players who you can build around for years to come. Ampai is such a player. Or, at least I think that he is. Alternatively, if Montreal think that Convey is a head-case, they may wish to avoid him. If we are dumb enough to expose Convey, then I think he will be taken. I'm just guessing that Frank and JD have offers for him on the table, so they protect him in the expansion draft, then ship his elsewhere and get something in return. Please! Baca and Ampai both on the field at the same time? Surely you jest? We've no idea. Even if he doesn't get taken in the expansion draft, there's a good chance that JD and Frank trade him, because they are flaming idiots. GOOOOOO QUAAAAAAAKES!!!!!! Fire Frank!!! & JD too!! - Mark
