I think injuries are a concern with any player, though maybe more so with Gorlitz because he's had some pretty severe injuries in the past. One more bad one and that could be it for him. I think more than age certain players are more susceptible to injury than others. Guys like Hernandez and Gordon seem to be out a lot and guys like Wondo and Cronin seem to rarely get injured. "Short term" is OK in spots because it may allow you to invest your "longer term" in other places. You can't be doing long term all the time, and all over the place. Maybe you shore up your defense with cagey veteran players and that allows you to be more patient with more attacking players like Garza, Schuler, Cato, and TT.

That may be, but we also have at least 3 of the top defenders in MLS: Stewart, Goodson, and Bernardez. If Gorlitz is good enough, we might have the best backline in MLS.
For the time he played last year I think he was among the best left backs in MLS. Who do you think is better?
Not a top Bayern player just that he was "Bayern player". No one ever said a "top player" and he most likely isn't....
Considering LB purely as a defensive position I might agree but Stewart hasn't shown much success going forward despite his exuberant forays. Success is contributing to a goal or at least a chance.
I am reading potential as he learns to work better with the team. Our best moments going forward pretty much centered around him last year. I think he'll be MLS best 11 this year.
From a pure defensive standpoint, I think Stewart is the best in the league. Klute is right with him due to his pace but, Stewart is better than anyone defending crosses...he's very solid in the air for an LB. I think he's in the top three up field, but there aren't a lot of stellar attacking LBs in the league...slim pickens. He makes good decisions and has a pretty good cross...very happy to have him. I'm looking forward to see how Gorlitz looks with the full side. Since he is older, my only potential concerns would be if he can physically hold up without picking up a lot of nagging injuries and speed...mainly recovery speed.
I have not seen any preseason games or anything since last season. I just want to know, when all else fails , is Andreas Görlitz any good?
