does he have the speed to play the midfield?? everyone says he is as slow as molasses. he appeared to cover ground well yesterday though.... is a position change in the making soon?

He is tall and can probably cover some ground. I don't think he is as fast but last night anyway, he looked a lot better than Baca and covers more gaps defensively anyway. He did blow what seemed to be a weak shot on goal though.

yup, he did miss a pretty good sitter yesterday, but you can say that about our whole team, thats for damn sure. we've lost sooo many valuable points from crap finishing from wondo, gordon, and lenny as well.

Wondo, Gordon, and Lenny are not doing their jobs. How long can any forward go without scoring a goal?

Do Baca and Cronin have speed? In my opinion they do not. As a midfielder I feel that Jahn has shown technical ability that is on par with Cronin regarding defense and distribution however he has better size to win headers and was more physical and effective against bigger opponents.

I think Jahn has displayed a very high soccer IQ (it shouldn't be surprising since he went to Stanford). I hope he takes over for Baca. I think Baca is more effective from the bench anyway.

im not trying to disuade the idea, i actually love the idea, that kid has worked his socks off, and has an incredibly high soccer IQ. He is probably the best player we have had thus far this year besides Attakora. Its more me sincerely wondering. His biggest critique is he could posibly be the slowest forward in the league right now. and i know in this league in the midfield you need a bit of pace. Cronin seems pretty quick, so does baca. Is Jahn really as quick as them?

Jahn is too slow for CM. He is a forward plain and simple. I thought it was a big mistake playing him at CM yesterday. We desperately needed more width and didn't generate anything going forward in the first half. When Baca came off injured, we should have slid Pery over to CAM and put in Cato or Salinas on the wing to give us more width. I thought we looked really bad with Jahn at CM. He wasn't a disaster but I don't think a "position switch is in the making" for him. Watching Cato and Salinas run riot over the Colorado reserves today I could only think how much we missed that element of our attack last night. We had only had it on one side of the field with Chavez.

I didn't think you were, but your observation may be different than mine. To me Cronin is not fast and Baca is no faster than any of the opponents unless he comes on late. I don't see Jahn as being hindered by his lack of speed anyway; not as a forward and definitely not as midfielder as an upgrade over Baca.

I agree that pace is needed to play in MLS, but since Baca and Cronin are not gifted with speed (IMO) I think a better physical presence and proven goal scorer is a useful upgrade.

I think I play too much FIFA 13, lol.

I agree with this statement. I was honestly confused as to why Salinas, Martinez, Cronin, and Chavez did not start together.

With all that being said, I still believe Jahn>Baca at CM.

Cronin is still IMHO the best CM we have. Although he is solid at times but then he loses at others. I think though he is very inconsistent just like the rest of the team is this year though.

Cronin has been making me happy lately in that he is willing to take a shot on goal. Sure, he still gives the ball away and has the instinct to backpass when he has open players up field, but at least he is actually attacking.

Can someone please explain Jahn's role in his limited time of play yesterday?

I have a feeling they will start him at forward and not midfield from now on.

Jahn hit the post vs DC but he still shouldn't be a withdrawn forward. Still too slow for the pro game IMHO but he is only a rookie so we owe him the benefit of the doubt...

And he backs off rather than maintaining the challenge.

He hasn't played much in the last month or so. Have they finally figured him out?
