"Daegu's Hong Myung-bo" Lee Ji-nam: "As a defender I want to learn alot under legend Manager Hong. But I don't want to just learn, there will be chances for me so I will do everything to do what the manager wants and try my best to survive the competition." The coaching staff had been watching him before and asked alot about him. "I heard rumors before about a callup. I thought I wouldnt have much chance with my team getting relegated but it felt weird seeing my name on the list." "Ive never been callup to NT at any age level. Its the first time I will have Taeguk mark on my chest." "I have no relationships with manager Hong. I have never met him. But its an honor he called me up." "The hotel the NT will be using is the same one Daegu used for their training camp 2 years ago." "Its good to be going with former Daegu FC partner Kim Ki-hee and former Gyeongnam FC partner Kim Joo-young." Trainee -> Reserve -> Military service -> Bench -> Starter Lee Ji-nam was a Cho Kwang-rae's Anyang LG trainee in 2003 at age 19. Didnt have a good time. After serving his time in Police FC he reunited with Cho Kwang-rae at Gyeongnam FC. Wasnt a starter but he got some playing time coming off the bench. Cho Kwang-rae always used him as a multi-player playing in many different positions. Mostly used him as a fullback. In 2011, he left for Daegu FC and from there Moacir used him as a starting CB. Remained the key player in heart of defence for Daegu FC despite several coaching changes. "At 30, my football life starts now."
woo, no HKY!!! a sign of HKY joining European team this winter?!@ good to see LSG back in the squad. hope he does well
i am satisfied since LSG is back from his injury. a lot of notable exclusions though and i wish he brought more the 23 players for so many matches. but we will likely see a different starting XI every game.
Why are we playing on artificial turf Alamodome? On second thought why does the Alamodome still exist?
Apparently KYK is simply being rested? http://www.sportalkorea.com/news/vi...5413§ion_code=10&key=&field=&search_key=y
It is a sort of pity that he didn't get a chance which I think he deserves the shot. But as you know, his competition seems very challenging.
He isn't the same Kang Min-soo we witnessed during the Huh Jung-moo era. He's been quite instrumental in Ulsan's recent success.
Greece friendly in March confirmed. http://sports.news.naver.com/sports...&mod=read&office_id=343&article_id=0000034037
We can take this friendly as the dress rehearsal for our opening match against Russia though we played them already on the last November. We will be tested against their dangerous set-pieces on which we have been vulnerable over the past few years. Not to forget to mention that Russia scored the winning goal from a set-piece in the meeting on November 2013. Hope we can arrange friendlies against likes of the Netherlands (Belgium) and Tunisia (Algeria) on May.
1. Why Greece? 2. Why in Greece? 3. Will we ever get paid by Greece for this friendly? 4. Nevermind point 3. I just hope our KNT members don't get robbed.
Greece obviously is a team that approximates Russia and more than likely also wants to play Korea in prep for their group match against Japan (yes, they are not like Russia and we're not like Japan). And playing in Greece would allow our Euro-based players not have to travel to Korea for the match.
Playing a non-WC bound teams (like Ukraine) is not wise IMHO. I think a more suited team would have been Bosnia but perhaps they were not interested in playing us. At least Greece's stalwart defense would offer a similar challenge to what we'll see against Russia. And I'm sure they will want revenge for 2010 WC.
No one would have thought Kang Min-soo was comfortable at LB. When he changed Kim Shin-wook to striker no one would have imagined him becoming an important NT player. No one would have a player like Lee Yong would become a NT player. The current squad consists of 4 current Ulsan players - Kim Shinwook, Kim Seungkyu, Lee Yong & Kang Minsoo. 2 Ulsan players on loan at Sangju - Lee Ho and Lee Keunho 1 Former Ulsan player that played under Kim Hogon - Yeom Kihoon Wonder where he will be next helping Korean football...?
