I was going to say Matthieu had no choice last season, but he would have gone this season anyway, so the two-year number would stay the same.

But why are you listing a stat compiled over two seasons anyhow? Surely you all hold the single-season stat as well...

It depends. If I were borderline I'd go back if I don't play a skill position (injury concerns) and IF I thought I could win a B(C)S title. I'm wondering how many of Alabama's players stayed last season because their chances of team success were good, and how many of FSU's will stay for the same reason. OTOH, if the money's calling aaaaaand my team's struggling to win our division, it's time for me to go earn a living. On the bright side, it shows that Fewer Miles is still recruiting top talent.

BCS Title or Millions??? lol is this really a decision?? Even as an undrafted free agent the money is really good.

and yes LSU holds the record with 9 iirc or 11.. one or the other.

I don't think kids are leaving LSU early because they think they can't compete and win a NCG, its more of the fact that they're just securing their financial future with that draft money.. Eric Reid and Keke Mingo two first rounders.. Eric Reid with a solid rookie season in the NFL along with Honey Badger whom are arguably two of the best rookie safeties in the NFL now. If they were to stay another season they risk injury and drop in stock.

Other underclassmen from last year are Bennie Logan a rookie starter for the Eagles, Kevin Minter linebacker for the Cardinals.. iirc everyone except for Sam Montgomery who was recently cut from the Texans for misconduct away from the field, has a "secure" job in the NFL right now.

And it wont change this year with Jeremy Hill the projected #1 Runningback declaring yesterday, Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham two WRs who will more than likely have long careers in the NFL, Anthony Johnson whom stock won't rise anymore that it is now for a kid who entered college as a 5 star prospect and a freak of nature, Ego Ferguson a kid who will also have a nice career in the NFL as a big DT...etc.

if only LSU could stop pumping so many bred winners. as is life on the Bayou. On the bright side La'El Collins returns for his senior season, only because many expect him to be a first rounder in next years draft compared to a 2nd rounder in this years draft. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Jameis Winston's backup is coming to Tuscaloosa to get his Bama Bangs and become the next team leader/game manager for the Crimson Tide.

If only Blake Sims had gotten that conk like folks told him to... I can't stop laughing...

That's not relevant- you can see from his photo that he has all the requirements to be an SEC QB. Especially at Bama.

this Jacob Coker kid seems like a total bust to me. When was the last time he even played a full quarter of ball?

He can manage the game as well as McElroy and McCarron did if he just stays healthy.

I'm beginning to have more and more respect for the rest of the Alabama roster's ability. The Alabama system seems to be to stock every position except QB with all-world talent and then put some goofy-ass Huck under center to be their "leader". I'm actually impressed that it's worked out as well as it has so far.

The Mannings, Cutler, Stafford and Newton are real QBs. Bama doesn't even go after them- it's almost like they want these doofus FCA types to run the show while real men get the job done so they can look good. A perfect example is the way Saban poofed McCarron for the Heisman when he knows C.J. Mosley is his best player, period.

Yea, but this gump mutherphucker is a RedShirt Junior and hasn't even played a full quarter in his career. How the phuck is he supposed to be ready for SEC ball if he couldn't even fight for ACC ball in his three years there.

btw they say Towns aint comin to Bama cuz Kiffins there. He's a South Cal kid whose never even sniffed USC's campus for an unofficial visit when Kiffin was headcoach there, and not he's at Bama and the kid de-commits from the blue?? Kiffin Cancer breh.

He was backing up the ACC's B(C)S title-winning and Heisman Trophy winning QB whose team was ready for whatever and whoever was put before them, Mountain West, SEC, Big East, whatever the ********. Now, the part about him not playing a whole quarter does make a bit of sense. He'll learn on the job in Tuscaloosa and probably won't lose a West game unless it's to Auburn or Ole Miss.

Saban put a whole team on his back in 2003. I think he can, y'know, figure out a way to keep a single Huck from losing games for him when he's got real talent everywhere else.

So you saw the ESPN Comments posts from the usual armchair experts, too? Those guys shoot from the hip and worse, from the heart. Don't pay them any attention. Kiffin is a coordinator right now and he'll be silent like the rest of Saban's staff. Not even relevant to recruits.

No, I saw the 247 USC scout/recruit experts write a story on the kid. Coker and Kiffin seemed to be enough to have this kid looking at USC as his best option right now. Anywho how many times does a highly talented Cali kid leave for an SEC team anyways. Rarely do they leave the nest.

Town and Browne at USC would be so deadly. What happened to Barkley though.. I remember he was a top 10 draft pick which turned into a 4th round draft pick after Kiffin took over USC.

I know, right? West Coast (and Northeast) kids, with all the issues that stem from their book learning and degree intentions, are not a good fit in in the SEC. You ever hear a Marcus Allen interview? If you had, you'd know why he's a Trojan and not a SECer. Taylor Mays is the only one out of the dozens of USC players I've heard talk that seems like he'd blend right in.

But it can still happen when you're Alabama or Auburn- Bama got Al Bell from LA and Peter Kim from Honolulu and Auburn got Al Del Greco from Rhode island. Probably some since then- those three were years ago. That's the draw of an Alabama or Auburn, and the rest of the division/conference can kindasorta piggyback on that.

Barkley was supposed to strike while the iron was hot, but he didn't. That's not Kiffin's fault, it's Barkley's.

We really need to keep this thread going- after all, SEC football is a year-long happening...

    http://fansided.com/2014/02/13/nick-saban-bret-bielema-back-huddle-rule-change/

Looks the head coach of the best-bred players on Earth is still all skidmarky over quick play, citing "player safety" And he made Bielema nod approvingly along with him. Never thought I'd see an Alabama coach turn tail like this in the face of a changing sport.

Coach, if you can keep your cousin Vinnie on the field, he'll be able to offer guidance and instruction to the athletes on defense, and they won't be confused when they play an up-tempo team.

lol hilarious cuz he tried to do some no huddle on us last season.

They're gonna struggle this season with that new QB. SEC (West especially) is not the ideal conference to play a QB who hasn't seen remote action in 2 years.

It'll be interesting to see how the SEC pans out next season with a lot of new QBs entering the fold.

Bama with Coker, Sims, Bateman and Morris?
LSU with Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris
A&M with Matt Joeckel, Kyle Allen, and Kenny Hill
Georgia with Hutson Mason, Brice Ramsey, and Faton Bauta

South Carolina, Auburn, and Ole Miss the only teams returning starting QBs.. Dylan Thompson who had split snaps with Conor Shaw before Dylan got injured.. Nick Marshall returns after his stellar year helping Auburn reach a Championship game.. while Bo Wallace returns for his senior season to Oxford with a strong core of players to make a dark horse run possibly.

Mississippi State is a team to watch, Dak Prescott has an absolute gun for an arm and runs like a semi. Took over really well for the injured Tyler Russell.

An eye will also be kept in Florida with their QB situation.. Jeff Driskell has been utter sh1t every year since he's been there and won't be surprised if his spot is up on the line this summer against incoming freshman, Will Grier. Driskell has had an injury plagued career thus far, but Muschamp seems keen to stick with his guy.

Tennessee also graduate Worley.. which means the young Joshua Dobbs will take over the job there. Holy crap can this kid throw the ball, he'll be a huge upgrade with a full year under his belt now at Rocky Top.

    An intriguing Summer is looming!

Well, technically, he's going to play a West schedule, but it's Bama's West schedule. He'll do fine at this level, just like all the Alabama game managers who came before him. Besides, he's playing on one of the two teams that make the SEC West a pretty strong division nationally, so it's not like he has to face Saban's defense. But the other West power might trip him up in the Iron Bowl.

That's a done deal, unless Bateman and Morris are White.

Disagree. Not much intrigue at all here, because none of these teams are going to win the conference. The conference champ will be either Bama or Auburn unless one of them plays poorly enough to lose two division games.

All of Bama's QBs are white.

Mizzou could win the SEC easily.. they return 15 starters. Along with probably the best WR core in the nation and a strong DLine, they'll be making a run again. Not a corner in this league that can stop Dorial Green-Beckham.

Georgia will also be contenders. Theres no way they won't be with 17 phucking starters coming back, 10 of em on defense. Gurley and Marshall comeback, the best 1-2 combo in college along with 5* studs Michel and Chubbs. Michael Bennett and Chris Conley also return at WR offering plenty of weapons for Hutson Mason. Lorenzo Carter automatically makes their edge rush a threat.

A&M also restock with 17 returning starters, 9 on defense. Sumlin will have no problems replacing Johnny Football, his system and elite recruiting will give way to another star in either Kyle Allen or Matt Joeckel. Myles Garrett also comes in immediately to provide a threat off the edge rush along with redshirt Justin Manning who will be a huge monster in the middle plugging up gaps, something they failed last season. Secondary will still be up in the air though along with their LBs in coverage, but they were very young and will only improve.

LSU defense looks loaded once again returning SEVEN starters on defense. Among them their two starting true freshman CBs.. Rashard Robinson and Tre White. Rashard joined LSU late last fall and played the last 3-4 games, in which shutting down SEC's top WR, Mike Evans. Something everyone else failed to do big time. Along with Jamal Adams and Ricky Jefferson, LSU will be buzzing all over in the secondary again.

South Carolina return 16 starters.. none bigger than Dylan Thompson whose already been named starter and one of the top runningbacks in the nation, Mike Davis. Easily a favorite to win the SEC with their deep defensive rotations back albeit losing Clowney.

SEC will be a toss-up. Bama and Auburn clear favorites.. far from.

You are crazy. A&M was an afterthought in the Big 12 for years and will be back to that without Johnny.

No you're crazy.. cuz before they join the Big 12.. Aggies were kings of Texas in the SWC era. They're back as a premier program now and it looks to stay that way since Kevin Sumlin is known for raising QBs.. helped Brees.. helped Bradford.. developed Keenum and Manziel and now has two more than capable QBs in Kyle Allen and Kenny Hill.

They have a plethora of runningbacks and highly touted receivers coming back.. he will definitely continue to play a high level of football and contend the other West elites.

It wasn't just their class that disqualified them from the draft... perhaps they'll actually hold someone below 42this year.
