Goodsport, here is the winger Sergio Valle-Ortiz in action. He scored the first goal by the San Diego Flash in their 3-1 victory over cross town rivals San Diego Boca FC in the San Diego Derby (at about the 2:15 mark). This game was only hours after he returned home from the trial in San Jose.
Didn't see much of him in the video other than the free kick. #6 stood out to me more - Justin Picou? Thought from the video that he was a little guy, but he's apparently 6' - so a big guy who's kinda quick like a little guy - that's a good thing.

"Wine & Dine with the Earthquakes set for Sept. 9" (SJEarthquakes.com - Monday, 7/9/12) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I haven't been to the SSV annual dinner for a few years. I just signed up for the 2012 dinner and then got the email about the Quakes' own wine and dine event. So does this mean that earthquakes players will not be coming to the ssvcf dinner anymore, or maybe to a lesser extent than the last one I went to (Hucks last appearance)? It's okay, as I only signed up to hear Jimmy Conrad. . But I just wondered if the quakes relationship with SSVCF has changed.
No, all the players are scheduled to be at the Soccer Silicon Valley Community Foundation dinner in Mountain View on October 12, just as in past years. The September 9 wine-and-dine in Morgan Hill is a special event to benefit the Earthquakes Community Fund, and is not intended to compete with the SSVCF dinner. I'm also assured, just this afternoon during my meeting with Quakes president Dave Kaval (on a variety of subjects including the stadium), that the team will be promoting the SSVCF dinner in the same manner as it is promoting the wine tasting event for a month earlier. What's fantastic is that our team's players are so accessible -- and community oriented -- and that we as fans have multiple opportunities to mingle with them in social settings for good causes. We're definitely spoiled.
yes? there is a date...and you're not going to tell us? "anticipation" is a gross understatement, besides, we can keep a secret...c'mon Don, spill the beans!
Your question was whether there are "projections on a date." There is no date, but there are projections on a date. But you knew that already.
backpeddling 101...well done. I think you know something but I respect your decision to keep us all in the dark...lol. ground-breaking will be a massive relief...and signal stability once and for all for our Quakes... ...it can't happen soon enough for me.
Nothing he wrote was back peddling... Hold up the mirror and recategorize your statement as "Jumping to conclusions 101"
yeah, silly me. I read "yes" as his response to my question (any projections on a date for ground breaking ceremony?) as a sign that he might know something. Hold up the mirror and recategorize your statement as "unnecessary and ridiculous"
I am perfectly aware of Don's greatness and Don is keenly aware that we're all looking for any sign/indication that our long, arduous journey is nearly over and that we will finally see progress on a permanent home. but no worries, hopefully we will be celebrating some great news on this soon.
