Depends on what. Coal mining is very big. Then there's natural gas mining which is really blowing up, no pun intended.
Well that all depends on who you asking. Fracking is a HUGE topic locally since it's happening right over the border in PA and they want it to happen here in NY. I know some people who have already sold lease rights to companies in anticipation of NY allowing it and they stand to make hundreds of thousands of dollars off of this. There's a new breed of rednecks down in rural PA where they're fracking, they're all driving mercedes now, but still have about 10 teeth.
that makes me even more worried....the problem is the stuff that they pump into the ground is very toxic....and if that stuff gets into ground water then say good by to that resource...Also from what I heard there is very little management going on so places can do whatever they want...
The leakage is another major problem. Unless they find a proper way, fracking is an environmental disaster.
Yup I have told people this and they tell its all lies....There also a possibility of causing earthquakes as well. Have you ever been in the area where they are mining for oil sands in Canada ? Ive heard there are giant chemical pools there that are sitting in large dirt ponds and major deforestation.
qell thats pretty ********ed up but me and my mate wanna get a job in Western Australia which is pretty much a desert LOL. Work there for a year driving a truck, 5 days a week 12 hour shifts, in 40 degree heat make about 40+ k a year, no problem
Southern people used to do alot of work which is why they had to eat so much now they dont do jack and eat the same amount if not more.
What I know about the oil sands is simple. We have more oil then the entire middle east put together. Yet the Americans are robbing us and making the Arabs ultra stupid rich.
America is greedy yet has the balls to push "american morals" onto "less developed nations". Those oil sands are destroying so much Canadian land and forests. Its a disaster waiting to happen.
