Saw the game, I find it very difficult to believe Leow will opt for the less able, though more conservative and safe, badstuber. Unless he uses both of them, which is unlikely given their inexperience.

    ???

Badstuber is the #1 CB for Loew. The battle is between Mertesacker & Hummels.

Exactly. Also, anyone can score against Chievo. They are from some small village. He even outsprinted the defender(for his first goal) while running with the ball. He is 34 and did that. That`s how bad they are.

    It's Italy...the defender was probably 37.

When I mentioned his age then I didn't link it with his in game performance, did I? But I'm sure you know this and just wanted to spread some nonsense. :)

Reus with a goal, assist and pre-assist for Gladbach vs Stuttgart. This schurrley means that he is ahead of Schurrle in the pecking order. Loew must realize that. Herrmann made two assists. His understanding with Reus is perfect. This is the best duo since Cole and Yorke :p ;)

I have no issue with Reus ahead of Schuerrle, such is the former's intelligence I think he would slot into the first eleven seamlessly. Such a shame that him, Oezil, Mueller, and Goetze won't be playing at the same time.

    If we need to score;

    --------------------Klose
    -
    Reus--------Oezil---------Goetze------Mueller
    -
    -----------------Schweini

They could all play together at the same time against some crap teams like Austria, Belarus,Scotland and teams like that especially in the home games.

Schweini is way too defensive for this formation. :D

and even with such a formation you must bench players like Kroos, Gomez and Podolski.
Tough choices... good thing about that is Löw can hardly make a big mistake with whoever he picks in the end. ;)

i think Podolski would be included in that lineup. Mueller seems to have lost the form which made him so dangerous. But knowing Leow, maybe.

This is not to forget that Reus is also competing with Podolski, who functions in a somewhat similar free role. I'll hold it out that Podolski will remain in the starting 11, along with oezil and schweini. Khedira, Kroos, Goetze, Mueller and Reus will all have to battle it out.

I would go as far as advocating for something like this:

    ------------------------Reus
    Schuerrle-----Oezil------------Goetze----Mueller

Why not? Reus has played the last man for a year now. He can switch off and on with everyone else with ease. If these young players increase their goal output and finesse their finishing, there will simply be no need for a traditional striker. This is the biggest key going forward.

I'm afraid Loew isn't clued in to the above. He will always want to play with a striker, and that has an impact on how he arranges and selects his formations.

Jansen, Trochowski, Hitzlsperger - it's about time these players moved aside. They were only playing because we didnt have the quality of youth we do today.

In other news, Mertesacker had a pretty bad game. He's too slow for this league. Another point for Hummels and Badstuber this weekend seeing they performed so well.

Yes he can, if he starts Gomez ahead of Klose. It would drop the danger to the opposition defence from a red to an orange, because nobody in our line of AMs know how to play with Gomez like they do with Klose and they probably won't learn it in the next few friendlies. I would even jump out of my window, onto the lawn a metre below me ;), if Gomez actually starts ahead of a fit Klose.

Not sure about this. In all his games so far, Reus has lined up on the right. It seems that, for now at least, he is in competition with Mueller for RW rather than Podolski/Schuerrle for LW.

And while Reus has outplayed Mueller this season in the BL by a comfortable margin, Mueller has had a strong season at the NT level. Not to mention, Mueller has experience and strong past performances on his side as well.
