Gomez need to start, I had a different opinion before, but he needs to prove he can contend klose as a striker.

What he's been showing at Bayern lately is that he can't. :p

I support anyone who can contribute to this team winning that championship in July so I hope he is able to recover his form. He is so low in confidence that doing well with the NT this week and perhaps finding the net could turn things around for him.

Klose needs to start. Gomez is optional.

It sounds like Klose will be starting (he is captain in Lahm and Schweini's absence).

I think that Loew is planning with Gomez in mind for the period after the EM. It is very unlikely, unless Klose suffers a major injury, that Gomez will play any meaningful minutes in Poland/Ukraine.

really nice goal too by him. Showed intelligence for once. Also thought Klose did a lot of great work today in Rome derby. Won penalty and was constant thorn in Roma's side.

In the BL this season he's got 16 goals in 20 matches. He is dominating out there.

He is an intelligent player, just relies more on the fact that he has a brilliant left foot.

I respectfully disagree. He has talent but his IQ lets him down way too often. He relies too much on his bare instincts, put head down and run in straight line, and use left foot. I'm glad he's added a bit of depth but he is what, 27 now? About time. I want him to succeed in England. He'll fit right in.

Yes, Podolski is known to be extremely intelligent, both on and off the pitch.

English reporter: Mr. Podolski, what's your secret?

Podolski: My good coach Jochen Löw say me since two thousand and four: "LUKASCH! You have good left foot. You shoot good with left foot. Use good left foot!" Then my good coach Solbakken have no hair on head but say me: "Lukas, you have good left foot. You shoot good with left foot. Use good left foot!" Then my new new coach Arsenal Wenger say: "Merde! Luc, you 'ave good left foot. You shoot good with left foot. Use good left foot!" Then I thinks I use good left foot to shoot on the goal! And then I shoot goal and I thinks it really work!
    MatthausSammer repped this.

    HAHAHHAHAH thats funny good one!

Regarding overall performance of our NT players - Its very concerning what is happening at BayernM. At this rate I am worried about the EC. The fact that 65% of the NT come from Bayern really worrries me. All the fighting and lack of confidence. Further more the back line is definitively not as good as 2010. Generally I believe the 2010 team was better then our current team (not as much depth) but they where on a performance level better.
MERTE and Friedrich played really well in 2010 - dont know if BADS and Hummels can perform on that level.
Schweinie - had his best season ever that year , currently injured so not sure if he will be as good in 2012 as in 2010. Same with Muller.
Gomes had a good last 18 months but also seems on a downward spiral again.
Khedira had much to prove in 2010 - 2012 we will have to see
Oezil seems to be partying more now a days that could effect his game.
Klose is getting older and might not be fit for the EC. What then!
Kroos really showing a drop in form lately and dont know if he is any better then 2 years ago at this stage.
Schurrle who looked so promising last year did not really have a good season so far. Wonder if GrossKreutz would not be a better option.

Some plus points - Podolski defiantly playing better then two years ago
Season is still long and all the above can come back into form.
We have more depth in midfield then two years ago(Goetze an Reus), will however see how they integrate into the NT.
Merte could get fit and reach his potential.
Loew usually has a good tactic before the actual EC tournament to build fitness and team spirit.

Biggest point is we saw that against France something was lacking in the team, as we see with Bayern at this stage. Hope they overcome this period and are ready at EC. Really dont want to see them exist first round!

Which team is better looking at current performance?
    2010

    -----------Neuer----------------------
    Lahm----Merte----Friedrich-----Boateng (Badstuber)
    -----Khedira---------------Schweinie (Kroos)
    Muller--------Oesil-----------Poldi (Marin and Trochovski)
    -------------Klose----------------(Gomes and Cacau)

    or

    2012

    -----------Neuer----------------------
    Boateng----Hummels-----Badstuber-----Lahm (Howedes)
    -----Khedira---------------Schweinie (Kroos)
    Muller--------Oesil-----------Poldi (Reus and Goetze)
    -------------Klose----------------(Gomes and Cacau)
Just looking at the back four and looking at current performances and injuries, I think the starting 11 was better in 2010!

What are you saying ? Since when ? Seriously somebody needs to answer me.

He played very well against France and has been great for Real in the last 2-3 months.

That's been my impression as well. Oezil has markedly improved his game.

I think that the back four put up some amazing performances in 2010. I was especially impressed with how well they gelled together for that slaughtering of Argentina. And I think Friedrich put up his two best performances against both England and Argentina. Going into the WC, no one would have any reason to say these things about those guys. They rose to the occasion. I'm hoping whomever ends up going to Poland/Ukraine will do the same, because on paper, the current crop is the better team. But we all know what expectation does to people.

I'd like to see this team: 4-3-3

    -----------------------------------Neuer--------------------------------------------

    -------Jantschke--------Merte-------------Boateng--------Lahm-----------

    -------------------Khedira------------------Schweinie-------------------------------

    ------------------------------Goetze------------------------------------------------

    ------Ozil-------------------Klose---------------------------Muller-------------------

Ozil, Goetze and Muller changing positions. By 2014 I expect Jordanov to push for starting spot.

What about Draxler,Leitner,Gundogan,Beister,Esswein,Merkel Herrmann and a few other midfielders ? It will be a miracle if he makes the bench even once in his career.

He has two options. Either he says '' fu ck international football'' or ''аз съм българин''(I am Bulgarian)

I meant his potential. There could be injuries, bad transfer choices....etc, still I would rate jordanov's technical ability higher than anyone I have seen including the established wizards, Mesut and Goetze (biggest fan of Mesut here).lol

    In comparison with the duo:

    .............................................. Jordanov.........Mesut/Gotze

    First touch .................................X ..................................................

    Acceleration on the ball.................X...................................................

    Vision......................................................................X.....................

    Pass....................................................................... X.....................

    Close control...............................X...................................................

Super speed give and go .............. X...................................................

    Explosiveness................. ............X....................................................

Jordanav has good vision and final pass as well, but may need tactical maturity to reach the level of wizards. In short, I am saying Jordanov has the potential to be the best player in ..................................................

Out of all those players, only Herrmann and Leitner look like they can push for 2014. Gundogan has potential, has does Draxler, but thats as far as it is - potential. Regardless, Gundogan and Leitner are fighting for one spot so we can be assured its one or the other.

Have you watched Esswein this season (and especially in the last 4-5 games) ? He will be 24 in 2014 which means in his prime.

Mario Gomez back in-form? Just in time for the CL match against the mighty FC Baselona! :D

On the other hand, Podolski with a red card today. They are saying there was a head butt from him but I don't see it. Go to 1:23 of this video. Looks like he ducked out of Kobiashvili's (non-heterosexual) hug/caress to me:
