YESSSSS!!! This is going to be one hell of a campaign (I hope). I've just recently extended a hand to my Italian-American, Juve-loving coworkers to come aboard this wagon before it gets way too crowded.

I just saw on soccernet that the transfers are still "not done". Anyone know who's being looked at now?

I can't imagine that we're still looking at anyone. We said that we were most likely done after Eidur. Laporta said before that we had €30 million for our transfer budget, €28 million of which was spent on Eidur, Thuram, and Zambrotta.

I just don't see us spending more. That said, I didn't even really think we were willing to spend enough to get Zambrotta. Anyone we get now is just gravy.

Plus, with Laporta stepping down next week to hold elections, I doubt they'll be buying anyone else. In reference to "we're not done" I think Rijkaard was just giving a wishy-washy answer to a question he didn't feel like answering properly. I wouldn't read into it too much.

Two La Liga titles and the Champions League and likely favorites to retain both trophies. And we have the World Player of the Year and the #3 World Player. And we have the young Messi. And we just picked up Zambrotta and we......

    That's what I think of him! :D

And not to mention in his first season Barcelona we were second even. Much like Rijkaard, I find myself disagreeing with him often, but then again, you can't argue with what has actually happened on the field.

I mean, just like this summer. We started off looking like we were going to make mistakes. Remember dreading the Henry or Forlan pursuits...but as it progressed, everything the man did turned to gold, and we wound up with the swoop of the summer and three high quality players for less than extortionate prices.

I wish Rossell was still in the management, but in no way do I want Laporta to leave.

I know this is really off-topic but i didnt feel it justified its own thread. Today FR played in Bergkamps testimonial and didnt look half-bad could maybe play in an injury crisis. He played right-back and did a good job against overmars lol

Rijkaard does look in shape. And he is obviously a legend, the skill is still there.

Would be great to see him in a Barca shirt, but it won't happen.

Vieira is on his way down. No need to increase the average age of the squad because of a short term buy, and a player you do not really need imo.

Additional rumor is that Trezuguet would also be a part of this deal.

I think Viera is a good addition to the squad. I also think he is better than Edmilson and would probably find himself in the starting XI quite often.
