Duck, Pizza what're you're choices to replace Brown. My list would be...

    1. Phil (of course, but this is not gonna happen)
    2. Brian Shaw
    3. Nate Mcmillan
    4. Sloan
    5. Byron Scott
    6. Shaq :D

Swap Shaw with Sloan and replace Shaq with D'Antoni.

What about the Olympic coach? Me forget his name but I know Kobe loves him.

This, except I would place Byron Scott on third.

    No to that Duke coach.

Good thing Shay did not even put Kurt Rambis on that list.

I was kidding about the Diesel. :)

Adrian Woj of Yahoo is the chosen one these days. He gets all the Lakers scoops and inside info. He's saying that Mitch asked Jimmy and others to give Brown more time.

He's also saying its gonna be D'Antoni.

He would get fired immediately for abusing his players.

the olympic coach will not leave duke..lol.

    We know ;)
It's a hasty decision. I think they figured they wanted him gone and better do it now before Lakers start rollin.

Dude it was an early firing, but we need a coach to come in early and do a whole preseason and change the system. So in this case, I liked that it was early.

Brown has never had players like this... and he failed.

D Antoni would be fun, but we really need to do something about our defense. That was the number reason why I had no confidence in Brown. He was supposed be the Defense coach, we sucked at it for his time here.

some of his pheonix teams could beat this current laker team imo.

kobe isn't getting younger, this is his 18th season. nash is ancient and injury prone. world peace isn't the same. gasol isn't wanted.....

idk this laker team isn't that great.

It'll be a good decision if they replace him with somebody who has a clue.

Don't wanna put Brown down now that he's been fired but he just isn't good enough. He worked his ass off and for that he gets some respect but he was the wrong choice post Phil. This is Jimmy and co. accepting that they made a mistake.

News on D'Antoni: He had knee surgery last week. He's laid up for the next 6 weeks.

Defense will be OK once Howard gets his legs back.

Agree. Brown would be a great coach for lower team like the Kings or Golden State (sorry Os :)) or mid table team. But he was just out of his depth for arguably the biggest basketball team.

That is a positive no doubt. We just cannot rely on him and Artest to carry the defense when we have Nash and Pau on the same court.

Epic would not even describe that. Come on Pat......... come home Pat. :D

    Statement from Mike Brown ...
"I have great respect for the Buss family and the Lakers’ storied tradition and I thank them for the opportunity they afforded me. I have a deep appreciation for the coaches and players that I worked with this past year and I wish the organization nothing but success as they move forward.”

    Very classy stuff.

Kupchak: When there's a coach like Phil Jackson, one of the all-time greats and he's not coaching, we'd be negligent not to be aware. I think we'd like to see something the players can pick up on a little bit quicker ... we'll look to an experienced coach.

No doubt. I wish him well. He's just not the guy to lead a marquee franchise. At least not Dr. Buss' marquee franchise.

We do know one thing though. Death Stare 1 - Mike Brown 0.

Brown is just too nice a guy. When you're coaching a team like the Lakers you need a president type dude who will command respect from second one. Brown would do great with younger guys willing to listen. Not Kobe, Howard type guys.

Kobe Bryant's statement on Mike Brown's firing (via Kobe's Facebook page) ...
"Tough day. I've seen coaches as well as friends come and go. No matter how many years I've been playing, it's still hard to deal with. I had a good relationship with Mike and I will continue to have one. I wish him and his family nothing but the best. I spoke with him today and thanked him for all of his hard work and sacrifice.

"As a team, we must focus our energy on tonight's game. We must block out the weight of today's news and simply do our jobs to the best of our ability.

"I'm not sure what direction we are heading in next. All I can do is focus on the here and now.
