I know Ghost already mentioned Monica Vitti, but I have to post another picture of her here:

Her one foray into direction was terrible, however.

Another one I'd have picked, Isuzu Yamada:

Most only remember her from her later work with Kurosawa where she tended to play the shrewish middle-aged woman, but in her pre-war career in Mizoguchi films she was simply stunning.

I'm also going to mention Maggie Gyllenhaal, who's a miraculous actress and just smoking hot.

And finally, the quickest way to a boner: Googling "Pam Grier".

What the hell... here's one more. Melina Mercouri, the great Greek actress/singer/dancer/diplomat who got a state funeral equivalent to that of a prime minister when she died.

Not a traditional beauty, but not exactly Janeane Garofalo, either.

    Might recognize her better here...

I'm trying to remember why I didn't have her on my list. I don't think I had a reason, she just slipped through the cracks. Great actress, and heartbreaking to look at. Sigh...

I thought about Maggie, but I go up and down on her face, although I think it looks better on film. Very leggy, though. And has an English degree from Columbia, or something like that.

Plus, any woman that beautiful and talented who has a personality that leads to a decades-long successful marriage to Mel Brooks deserves bonus points.

Though she's certainly not a traditional beauty, I have always found Geena Davis to be oddly attractive. This would have been a great pick in my eyes.

On an overall note, I'm dismayed at how little female musician picks happened during this draft. Hell, there were probably at least 10 women from the "hot women of indie rock" thread from a while back that I would have taken over some of the dime-a-dozen movie stars that dominated the picks.

    Other than that, solid draft.

Since it's been awhile since anyone posted in here, I'm going to go ahead and cut it loose. Just one last word .... having spent four hours with her in a dark room yesterday (Hello!), Cate Blanchett is a lot better looking than her reputation would suggest.

It just hit me .... did we actually just complete a "well ROUNDED draft of women in movies, television and MUSIC" ... and no one picked:

    DOLLY PARTON????

A couple other singers came to mind:

    Olivia Newton John

    and

(I've never found Cher to be attractive, though I know some people do - and she did do some acting in addition to her singing career)

I kept thinking of, putting off, and forgetting Dolly. She would have been a great pick.

Someone I nearly chose, and then neglected to mention after the match.

    Tuesday Weld

For some reason, I kept pulling out sixties starlets. Surprisingly, i was about the only one.
