I've had enough of this no Lucas thread in our forum nonsense. In my mind there's no question to whether or not the kid's world class. Like come on...how many times over the past 2 years or so have we seen these dominating performances from him. He's THE prime example that you should never give up on a player with potential.

It was most likely the haircut...

    Old, inconsistent, frustrating Lucas Leiva

New, dominating, intimidating, world class Lucas

    Here's your thread, pal

It's generally considered a bad thing to open a thread of a player when he's on an uptick. It totally jinxes them and causes them to fail hard for the next 5-6 weeks. If this happens, I'm putting the blame solely on you Mr. Cody667.

    That said Lucas rooocckzzz!

Well to be honest, I've been meaning to make this thread for weeks...he's been on this "uptick" for about 2 years now...since the end of 2009-10 basically.

So I think it's safe to do it. Besides, they opened a Van Persie one this year on the l'Arse boards and he's fine :p

the lad needs a song. The tckle on Toure where he simply walked up to him and pushed him off the nall was the best thing happened all day yesterday. i am still laughing. Dare I say that it reminded me of Didi on a good day.

Sure you can say it, just after Lucas gets his Champions League medal..:)

They, Lucas and Adam were good to watch all the match yesterday as they gradually shut down the great passing game (and is was good) of the ManCs'. And then took over.
Our passing game wasn't as pretty as theirs, a lot of ours went backwards but that took the sting out of their attack. When we went forward we were more incisive and economical with the passes.
But as someone pointed out sometimes Lucas could switch to the attack faster.

    He can only get better...!!!!

Brilliant performance, now he needs to learn to add goals to his game.

    Always room for improvement :)

For this team, he doesn't "need" to learn to add goals to his game.

The Man City game showed exactly what we need from him.

    This.

He will be wearing the captain's armband in the near future.

Fair enough, but if we could just get a healthy Gerrard then there would be no need for Lucas to add the goal to his game.

even if we get a healthy gerrard - how many years does he have left? 1? 2 maybe?

I'd like to see Lucas starting bringing that part back into his game as well. and again - not asking for 10 goals - more in the 3-5 range.

Add 10 goals a season to what he already contributes and you're looking at the PFA player of the Year ;) sadly you'd also be looking at a Barca/Madrid bound player as well. Maybe its best he stays under the radar a bit longer until our attackers can start finding the net first.

I'll take the 10 goals and deal with the rest when it comes.

Great to see him blossom as a player and increasingly as a quiet, leader-by-example. One of Rafa's very best talent selections - right up there with Alonso and Reina IMO. The bollocking he took from many of our "fans" made me cynical about the supporters for the first time... definitely not the Liverpool Way.

3-5 is fair...however I still have Wilshere/Ramsey-esque expectations for Shelvey and Henderson when it comes to replacing old man G

I'm already willing to bet Barca and Madrid are paying attention to him (doesn't mean they're targeting him or whatever, I just wouldn't be surprised if they were). They don't need a DM who can score, they need a DM who can do exactly what Lucas does.

    Sort of the Reverse-Torres Effect.

    I never had a man-crush on Fernando.

Also...the pace at which Lucas was hitting is passes was not only excellent again, but seemed to have just that extra bit of pace.

There is not a player in the world that I respect more.

Lucas is quality. Yesterday he proved he can be a shut down midfielder a la Monster Masch only he's more dynamic with his passing.

I like that he's beginning to use the outside of his foot.

Things are coming along nicely for him. His development at LFC has fallen perfectly in line with his former club manager becoming boss of Brazil, and with the World Cup on home soil in a few years.

Anyone know the details of his contract (when did he last sign one and when does it expire?).

I don't know the details but I know he signed a "long-term contract extension" at the end of last season. He'll be with us for years to come.
