STORE giant ASDA last night revealed it could DITCH its green-and-white logo — just to please shoppers in a Rangers-daft town.

The supermarket chain this week unveiled plans to build a new multi-million-pound outlet in Larkhall, Lanarkshire — famed for its true-blue football fans.

But bosses have now sparked a furious row by admitting its traditional livery could be scrapped because the same colours are worn by the Gers’ bitter rivals Celtic.

not the first time this has happened in Larkhall...

Subway has had to change from it's traditional Green and Yellow colour it uses everywhere else in the UK to black just for Larkhall.

Moss pharmacy had to change from its traditional green and white shopfront colour to red, white and blue as no-one would shop in it.

all the green traffic light signals in the town have had to have wire mesh put over them because they were repeatedly smashed.

the most prominent example of the promotion of colours associated with unionism is the railings of Glenview Memorial Park. in the past they were red, white and blue. in the 1990s, the council painted them municipal green, an act which proved unpopular. in 2001, a resident painted a stretch red, white and blue, and with the support of Karen Gillon, the local Labour MSP, the Queen's colours were then retained by the council.

what a wonderful town. only in the West of Scotland...

See, if local chains used Pacers/Colts colors for everything, I'd think it would add to the local culture. This sounds a bit different though.

Larkhall would need to get some of that first.

What a cesspit of a town inhabited by stupid, pathetic, sub-human scumbags, the vast, vast majority of which have probably never seen the inside of Ibrox in their life.

Congratulations on a thread of sweeping generalisations. A fine display of wilful ignorance, guys.

This is not to say Larkhall is without its bigotry problem, but there are people in Lanarkshire trying to get past those. Lots of people.

You also might recognise that Asda/Wal-Mart would not be the first corporation to bow to the lunatic prejudices of the communities they serve.

Coca-Cola has been doing it for ages, most notably in Turkish football.

no worries. fancy pointing out any other town in Scotland that suffers the same? any one that the Subway has had to change it's colours? or wasn't that the case?

now who's making sweeping generalisations...? i have friends who live in Lanarkshire. my best friend has lived in Carluke for years. Lanarkshire is a big place. the thread is about a town in Lanarkshire by the name of Larkhall.

i live in Scotland, not Turkey. i pity other countries that have similar problems. again, feel free to point out similar instances in our country. lets highlight them.

Do people still live in Craigmillar? Last time I was there it looked like everything was boarded up. Their little neighbors Dalkeith put out some of the finest girls to catch a clap from that side of the Firth though.

    Craigmillar isn't a town. ;)

if we want to go down that road then we'd have to include areas like Milton in Glasgow as well.

No, Craigmillar isn't a town, but it's another community you know the square root of bugger all about, it would appear. :p
