Even if we lose/tie, there's still a few things to be excited about: We tie: We have a 13 game unbeaten streak + 12 game unbeaten streak in official competitions. We lose: We still have a 10 game home win streak.
Dude just no. Belize top 50 wouldn't make it here. Hell my brother played with two younger guys on the Iranian national team before he gave it up to coach. While they were good they were playing semi pro level at best. I played with a kid that played for Guam's youth set up. Very good but would never cut it at the next level. The country you face makes a massive difference. Spain, Italy, Germany and so on's D squads would be a better test than Belize. Yes any given game you can lose or draw against weaker nations or clubs. You can dominate the match and not score but the level of quality of the teams we faced on whole are not the same as Spain's 15 game streak and the world will see it as such.
The winning streak started as soon as we left Cleveland. Coincidence? Costa Rica is the first team I've ever heard Klinsmann talk trash about as USMNT manager as far as I can remember. Beating them at their place would silence any doubts about the Snowclassico (if the game in Hartford hadn't already, which I don't think it has)
I think commentators are trying to be hip by playing this streak down. It's our inferiority complex coming into play. We need to have a win at all cost attitude. If memory serves, Spain made the record for 15 straight wins just before the 2010 WC and they rode that momentum to a title. I think that intimidated teams. We should want to sweep the rest of qualifying and break the record and be happy to be one of the favorites at the 2014 WC. Enough of this little engine that could nonsense. We need to get a big dog mentality.
