and this has what to do with the transformation of the central defense. And genius, please give us the proper lineup without John Bornstein, at the time. What was the alternative? And not theoretical, take into account the injuries and availability of others.
Jonny B held his own at the World Cup, if I recall. The only time we needed to replace him was when we brought Beasley off the bench to play left back late against Algeria so we could have more attacking thrust from that area. That's really the only part of Bornstein's game that I was disappointed with in South Africa.
He also had some disastrous moments before and after, but the point is 1. Idiot comes on here arguing that the central defenders needed to be changed and uses Findley and Bornstein as his 'evidence.' 2. Cannot come up with an alternative lineup to replace Bornstein without doing harm to the central defense.
3. Uses wikipedia to describe ignorance I agree. And Findley as well was actually a decent call until the Slovenia game where our midfield became overwhelmed and a second striker was a luxury we couldn't afford until we switched to a 3-5-2 and went all out. Anyways, I feel like people are actually beginning to realize how shallow the U.S. player pool was under Bob, and how crucial his understanding of it's ripples were. Even when Donovan and Dempsey were both around, we still had issues in central defense, left back, even Jonathan Spector could have sketchy games. Our central midfield hadn't really been figured out until... well, our second match of the World Cup, when we brought in Mo Edu, who hadn't been healthy for most of the 2009 Hexagonal. Jozy Altidore was a less proven individual, although still plenty talented.
Now we are starting to see some of the idiots who ran away come back. They figure it's been long enough and folks will have forgotten and they are trying to spin. These are the idiots, and I use it on the truest sense of the word, who posted relentlessly about BB being a high school caliber coach with zero comprehension. The players were there, it was the coach of course! Fast forward to the JK hiring and how overjoyed they were and now they see just how limited/weak the pool is, and the recognition of just how stupid they were, how wrong they were, how little they understood the game, how BB wasn't a complete moron, and they can't just can not come to grips at how totally ignorant they are. Many ran away, as they saw how dumb they were after 4 years of rants after 6 mths of JK in charge. A few realized this and changed their names, and moved the goalposts because they were to gutless to continues under their own name (embarrassed?), and some...like the idiot here...have come back now a few years later thinking he can change reality for his own limited sake mentally. No matter what I have posted I knew the JK hiring would produce one thing. Reality for the fantasists and the stupid. This is our talent pool. Welcome to the real world fools. Have enough guts to deal with it.
Bingo. Our first XI under Bob Bradley was full of some good players. No doubt about that. After that, there's a sharp downturn in talent. Quality sides like Spain have all the depth in the World. Do you realize they brought Juan Mata and Fernando Torres off the bench in the Euro 2012 final? THAT is some real depth.
Would it that donkeys stop calling mules 'asses' and so attempt to engage in civil and intelligent comment.
Yep. So much venom. bungadiri, you're really letting the name calling go way too far, while you lay out your plans for your salon book club discussion in the next thread.
I've looked over the last few pages, and nobody's called anybody an "ass". If the word "idiot" upsets you, then maybe internet message boards aren't your kind of place.
*Sigh* I suppose this means I don't get to wait to buy the tea set I was going to make everybody use? Look, the "salon book club discussion" is an attempt to dampen some of this stuff. It's not the only thing we're doing, though. Let's just say that if this guy shows up at your door, you probably did something to deserve it. Although I should hasten to add that he's not going to murder anybody. The most he'll do is issue some kind of infraction or warning or maybe even a forum ban for being a grouchy and unduly obnoxious pain in the keister. (And if, while he's at your door, you could get him to explain why he's chosen to take so many crappy scripts lately I'd appreciate it.) Worst case scenario? You get involved in a long and excruciatingly dull conversation with some guy whose screen name might rhyme with bungadiri and who's suffering from the delusion that he's God's gift to moderating websites and expects you to listen to him wax eloquent about this place as a community and how it's BigSoccer, not BigIdiot, and stuff. You want to avoid all this? It's simple. Don't call people mean names. Make more (the vast majority, even) of your posts about the game rather than other posters. Play the ball, not the man. Is this place making me drink more? Did I just say that out loud?
Would like to point out that this internet message board, at least, aims a little bit higher than ESPN-style flame wars in which everyone makes their points by calling others "idiots" (or worse). If you're looking to fling insults and childishly name call, then perhaps this internet message board isn't your kind of place. US Men is for free-flowing discussion among fans; that doesn't mean we let persistent personal garbage go.
Even if this was true, and its not, Klinsmann was brought in to "take us to the next level". Not just maintain the status quo. And in reality, we are far worse offensively. That's just undeniable. We bunker against everyone, regardless of how good or bad they are. We were a pretty good defensive side under Bora too. But anyone can go out and set up ultra conservative tactics with overly defensive roster selections and "improve" defensively.
We will have to wait until the end of this cycle to make a judgement then If the next level for the United States is to make the knockout stage in 2 straight World Cups then we will have reserve any judgement until next June
Okay, I'ma let you finish this conversation in the new KlinnsiCoachingThread. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/the-klinsmann-coaching-thread-v-2.1985776/ This one is closed. Tutup. Cerrado.
