Mournho comments regarding Benfica eliminating ManU from the CL. Not sure if this has been posted but I looked around and couldn't find it.

    Mourinho:
"Being Portuguese, I am very proud," Mourinho wrote in Record Dez. "The negative side is that with [United] out of European competitions they will think of the Premiership, but it is worth it." ;)

That statement surprises me a little, because he has obviously been very careful and measure his words to appeal to the British public. I think he even mentioned for his hope to succeed Erickson as England's manager some time in the near future.

Mourinho has denied wanting any part of the England NT job:

I know it's funny because I read that article too and I came to the opposite conclusion. This is why:

"Of course if players spend that amount of time in another country they can change their passport and play for that country.

So with six years of loving London and England, I will have something of England in my heart. So I could do it in a professional way and also with my heart". :)

Listen, the highest paid coach in pro soccer is the English coach, and he knows it.

Most of the English public were thrilled Benfica won. ManU aren't liked in the UK. Most of their fan base is in Asia.

My English mates, Arsenal fans, Manchester City fans, Everton fans and especially the Liverpool fans were happy.

They were all wishing Benfica the win.

Go to the Benfica Vs ManU thread, and look at the post from Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea fans congratulating Benfica on the win.

Only in this forum there is a fake sense of support for Benfica by non-benfica fans.

I am sure Chops was cheering Benfica, after all he was dying for a reason to wear that beautiful jersey.

oh please, i support benfica, porto in european competition for a couple of reasons: first, i enjoy supporting all that is portugal (i must own every zara shirt made in portugal); and second, i enjoy good soccer and portuguese teams play a strong system

I love my nation, but that doesn't mean i like Quim Barreiros and Jorge Ferreira.

Well, call Chops, maybe he can sell you that jersey he has on his Avatar at a discounted price, you will need it in February.

you're right on that point, i don't collect all that is portuguese - otherwise i would have my room adorned with roosters...but portuguese soccer is different.

...i have actually worn a benfica shirt, mind you i was 7 and it pained my father to hand escudos for that shirt.

mourinho is alittle biased i might add....

but pele also said he was scared of ukraine.

brazil i think will play mediocre cause other teams will play the underdog role and are going to play there with there hearts.
