I heard that Nashat made 2 goals yesterday, I dont know if it was the reserv team or what but he did it. Anyone who can show us the goals?
yup http://www.internationalfootballawa...GHT_AT_THE_INTERNATIONAL_FOOTBALL_AWARDS_2009 Nashat Akram, a player who took Iraq to unexpected victory in the Asia Cup and united a nation split asunder by war and religious strife stole the night by being finally recognised as ‘Asian Footballer of the Year’. The player who is currently playing for FC Twente in the Netherlands and the Iraq national football team flew all the way from Holland to accept his award. He added “I am so proud and excited to receive the Asian Footballer of the Year award. The International Football Awards is about football fans and it is great to finally have an awards show that represents football fans as they make us who we are. Look forward to coming back next year”.
We're playing him tomorrow by the sounds of it, will let you guys know how he does. He's spent a year now playing in the NSWPL so that should have got him used to the physical demands (and shit pitches).
I'm hoping he turns out to be as good as people are saying he is. He actually trialed with us last season and the coach at that point sent him away. New coach (a much better one in my opinion) and we have had a second look at him and signed him up.
Came on at 68' his team one goal behind, got straight into it and showed some good pace and control at left midfield but wasn't able to affect the scoreline. Promising signs though.
I think with a few weeks to gel with the squad, he could be just what we needed in Newcastle. Hopefully we get him on a longer contract because he looks good.
Nice to hear he played good on his debut, anyway could you put a link next time NewCastle play? thanks "A positive for Culina was a solid showing by Iraqi international Ali Abbas, who made his A-League debut off the bench. "

This guy is a mystery, absolutely class for his club sides, he looks to finish every chance he gets. Then when it comes to the national team nothing What do you guys think? A case of being played badly in the national team or nerves/personal issues on his end?
Well he didn't get many call ups to the NT and he was put in the wrong position when playing. Unfortunately none of our NT coaches have found out his real position (inside the box not outside). Anyway the NT has fallen in a deep winter sleep, no idea what will happen with them until Jan '11.

Check out this nice goal from Mustafa Karim. Hope he doesn't stay long in the UAE, he can move to a better league.
It's a shame Nashat Akram have played only 42 minutes in the league so far. Maybe he should have joined a weaker Dutch side.
Let's give him some time to acclimate to the conditions there, it's still a big step for someone like him. Hopefully Nashat can prove himself.
