SAF said on 9/14: "We expect Smalling to be back training by the end of the month. There's a little bit of comfort in that sense, given our centre-back situation."
this is no good. just when it looked like we were getting people back too. OK so we are left with Büttner, Evra, Rio (fit? took a knock too), Evans (knock?), Carrick(emergency) i think?
Not good. Not good at all. Depth is non-existent now. Only hope is that we continue to score goals until our defenders are fit.

@DuckerTheTimes - Times investigation: #MUFC have been without 50 players for 6 weeks or more through injury over past 3 full seasons: http://is.gd/6H0DCa --- from the press conference today: "Antonio Valencia is doubtful," stated Sir Alex. "He got a knock, first of all, when he went into the tackle with [Daniel] Agger and [Glen] Johnson. But, if he's not okay for tomorrow, he should be okay for Tuesday [against Cluj]. "Hopefully, we get through the next three games and the international break comes along. By that time, we should have Chris Smalling back." Vidic status remains the same and no word Jones or Young so still expect them out for weeks.
We need to get Brede Hangeland in January. I believe this is the last year of his contract w/ Fulham. We can't count on Jones when he returns. It was evident he'd lost all confidence in his play and his judgment. He'll have to re-start from scratch.
Last season B4 he got injured, his play seemed to gradually go downhill. His heading was tentative; he made desperate lunges when he really didn't need to, headed when he should have kicked, nervous dribbling. The own goal didn't help.
The problem was too much confidence that he could recover from going up the pitch mixed with fatigue.
Yeah, and when he found out he couldn't do that with impunity, it shook him to the core. It affected his defensive play.
