What is Rooney at his best? He's not had a game where he was unplayable in quite some time. He has games where he scores, but he's not the type of guy who takes a game over. I'm sure I'm missing some games but seems to me the last time he consistently (more than 2-3 times a season) would take games by the scruff of the neck or just do things that boggled the mind a few times a half was pre-Ronaldo's rise.

The last game that really comes to mind was against Milan or Bayern Munich. That period, at least.

When Rooney stopped getting cards every game is when he lost his edge. When we first got him he was temperamental and regularly lashed out on the pitch, but he was much, much hungrier than he is now. I would trade 19yo Rooney for current Rooney in a heartbeat.

Fail on my behalf, probably angered some Turkish forumer and am now personally responsible for 3 United fans getting stabbed at the away tie this season.

Ha, that reminds me of the "carsi" fella who used to come around when we were playing Besiktas a couple seasons back.

This is shaping up to be a long thread. Phil Jones tore knee meniscus and is out till November.

What strange voodoo are United up against?

He had surgery on it and they say he'll need 6-8 weeks of Rehab. This is after that back injury in pre-season. Not looking great.

Yeah. All said and done he'll probably need 3 weeks of conditioning before he's ready to go.

Well it's not like United can defend with all their defenders fit anyway.

Depending on what surgery he got, it should only take a month before he can start training again.

It's not surprising. We have shit injury luck.

I understand that having bodies back is good, but if Phil Jones hasn't progressed, I won't miss his rambling about midfield and defense until November or whatever he is. He's walkabout. Smalling, Evans are all more disciplined.

Probably a result of his reckless style. Same as Rafa.

so who do we currently have fit?

Büttner(?), Rio, Evans(?), Evra, Rafael, Vidić?

Evans is fit, Rio is probably the least fit of our fit guys. He was rushed back from a groin strain. It is a minor miracle that someone with pronounced back problems was able to play with a tweaked groin so soon.
