It would be sweet if the hard right onslaught in this district threw the election to the Dem candidate.

The ads in this race are bizzare.

If the Club for Growth douchebags supporting Doug Hoffman ******** this up for Dede,The North Country will become as Democrat as the rest of the nation.

Not that it matters-after reapportionment, enough of Syracuse and/or Utica will wind up in this district that it should go safe Dem.

Do the math - 25 percent of Republicans in the district either are for Owens or undecided.

I'm an independent Dede supporter who is not voting for Hoffman and is considering registering in a party for next year.

This is going to be interesting to say the least.

heh... interesting to see the lie continuing to be promoted in this race.

If Dede had come out with a 'conservative' position on just ONE big issue, she would still be in the race. And that would have been on the Card Check issue.. ie; big Union. You guys SERIOUSLY think she wouldnt be in the tank for SEIU? That's the 'Workers Party' arm of the DNC.

While Dems crow about GOP party identification they conveniently omit the figures on 'identify as conservative' which of course crosses all party lines. Dede's positions explain exactly WHY GOP ident is that low... dont forget about conservative distrust of NE/Beltway Republican 'seats at any price' politics.
That's what gets Snowe/Collins/Spector operational results.

While Dems like to point at Dubya as a result of 'Conservative' votes they conveniently forget he caved to 'big Government' mandate on just about every social issue... INCLUDING the mortgage mess that led up to our current depression. Then took the blame because he didnt do something.

Dubya was no conservative and Dede is a Rino by almost any definition.

And of course we continue to get the lie that Palin killed McCain's chances, totally disregarding the McCain poll results BEFORE Palin was selected.

Conservatives KNEW McCain was posturing... all they had to do was look at his legistaive results, eg McCain Feingold.. where McCain could only offer the 'Good Intentions/Unintended Consequences' excuses for big PAC money distorting Campaign Chests.

As far as 'Right Wing', lets not forget how many of you Liberals admire Ron Paul and how many of you switched to his support. Or who is it had Pat Buchanan commenting as 'authoritative' on elections in 08.

I want NEITHER of those representing my conservative views... the Left would like nothing better.

Oh, THAT is 'Rich'.. pun intended. I'd say he's an idiot, EXCEPT that he used the term 'Stalinist'... evidently 'Fascist' or Hitlerite -National Socialist- would be a little uncomfortable to use considering what is happening on the DC stage.

Nothing like throwing a few smoke bombs... attributing corruption tactics you use to the other side.

And never mind the ACTUAL 'Stalinist' tactic was use by the GOP national organization. In FACT it was the POPULIST CONSERVATIVES that killed Dede's run.

And BTW, riverplate... Why dont you have the guts to just say the NYT editorial board speaks for you? If I have to choose one, I'll say Palin speaks for me.
Before you come up with another link to Pinch's gang's agitprop, I suggest you look at Sarah's working with Dems in Alaska to throw out GOP crooks BEFORE the 08 selection.

McHugh was liked by labor as well.Dede has an even better reason to love labor.Let's see if some of the outside experts know what that is.

To show how f'ed up this race is,Chuck Kelly editor of our local fishwrap, has typically backed Democrats, even though his sister is GOP chair.Today,an endorsement for Hoffman solely for a pro-life position.

An interesting, not completely accurate, take on NY-23 from Sullivan's site (sounds like the guy actually moved out of state or is a professor,'cause that's the only way you really get that level of insight):

    http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/11/an-email-from-a-ny23-native.html

The key factor being missed here (not by Dem's though) is that redistricting with an all Dem Legislature guarantees that parts of Syracuse or Utica will wind up in this district.

Also,Darrell Aubertine's waiting to beat on Doug in 2010.He's a Democratic farmer who knows to beat rich Reeps in the NC (ask Willie Barclay).

Ah yes, the cry of the truly desperate. Conservatism can never fail. It can only be failed.

PS...what about the Senators and Representatives who gave Bush almost every friggin' thing he wanted. Are none of them conservative either? Conservative is as conservative does.

Huh? Is that some PC way of saying this drunken retard would never have been elected to Congress if his last name weren't Kennedy? Good riddance "Patches", don’t let the Congresional door hit ya "were the good Lord split ya" on the way out.

Yeah, you'd think someone who supports the tea partiers would have some sympathy for those with addictions and other mental illnesses.

    Re: Wtf?

:D Forgive for using the R word. I forgot everyone on the P&CE board, not to mention the ultra left in general, appreciates civility and would never, ever refer to a dim witted politician as a retard. By the way, thanks for finally referring to the movement as tea partiers and not tea baggers.

    Re: Wtf?

Not true. I would use the R word to describe the vast majority of the tea baggers.

Don't insult people with disabilities like that when there's a fine descriptive term like "douchebag" available.

    Re: Wtf?

You're right. It's an insult to people with learning disabilities to lump them in with the tea-bag party. Mea culpa.
