Not to get off topic, but how so? I disagree with his decision to retire only to un-retire after an off-season of prep for Aaron Rodgers, but he's been a great person on and off the field throughout his career.

Yes.

Scott Carson, Paul Robinson, loan deal for Ben Foster have been the three biggies other than the Brads.

Apparently Robert Green's contract extension talk's at West Ham have broken down and Villa were linked to him in the English papers this week. It looks like a "bigger" club might go for him, though.

Wow more outstanding analysis. Of course he asked for the release. The Packers have been running his name through the mud so it was time for him to sully them back. He has quietly asked to resolve this amicably but the Packers aren't playing ball. Therefore he has to look out for #1.

Call me crazy, but I seem to remember reading something back in like December about Liverpool and Villa reaching an agreement to make Carson's loan permanent. Anyone know why didn't that go through?

Close, but Villa don't want to pay that much. Consider that they reportedly just bought Guzan for £750k.

Surely Carson is going to go somewhere this offseason. Paul Robinson too. Big fall from grace for that guy, huh.

the fact that he has been playing this game for 5 years now... the fact that he believes the hype that he is still great (he has been crap for 5 years, including last year) and that he is holding the team he supposedly loves hostage... he is an asshole... and one of sports worst figures...

and I am talking about his on field self... altho he had a drug addiction in the past also... the guy is wicked...

he has been looking out for #1 for 5 years...

Yes, because the Packers's $12M/Y salary was such a shabby way to make a living.

Favre is a dip and always been such.

Wait till he gets some Ray Rhodes level coaching and his QB rating is back down to 75 or so.

'Pool allegedly wanted £10M in a straight sale and Villa said, "No, thank you".

Yeah I agree. I'm drinking the Brett Favre's kool-aid just like 99% of America does. I think people on Big Soccer would fault anyone, even say Jordan, Ali or Ruth in their primes.

I agree brett has been playing this game for about 5 years now. This talk about the Packers org. and GM (ted thompson) not wanting him back and forcing him out is BS. In early March he retired, near the end of the month he called the Packers up and said he wanted to un-retire and the Packers said OK, they even chartered a jet to fly down to MS for the press confererence , not 2 days later he calls up the Packers and said he doesn't want to come back and that he's changed his mind. They go on and draft 2 QB's in April and now he pulls this?

He an egomaniac drama queen, and I'm a packers fan.

the guy is overrated, I've always felt that way. I mean, how many times does he need to just chuck the ball downfield into triple coverage in an important game anyway? How his career ended is how we've felt many times and quite frankly I'm sick of it. Bring on Aaron Rodgers.

the guy made the same risky throws he made in the past few years... just that he had some good receivers to make up for him... the guy is an ass... I hope he comes back and fails... I remember watching Sean Taylor (RIP) bait his stupid ass time and time again into ints... he is done...

it doesnt even make sense... the guy is a horrible figure in sports... but it dont matter, everyone will defend him

As far as the automatic WP rule is concerned, Guzan played in 100% of the U.S. games this year i.e. both against Barbados (thanks to the injury to Howard). As I recall, he didn't play in the Gold Cup last year but did play in Copa America, so he'd be somewhere in the neighborhood of 50% to 60% over two years.

Halftime vs. England and Spain is fodder for an appeal but irrelevant to the 75% rule, as those were not competitive matches.

As a life-long Packer fan, I can say Favre is in the wrong here. Almost everybody I talked during the Brewer game tonight (I work for the Crew) said that Brett is being a jackass. He's thrown years of goodwill and adoration out the window in a few short days.

They think Brett should stay retired

'Cos I saw a few Summerfest videos last week and people were overwhelmingly behind his return, if it was back to the Packers.

Let's hope the Packers can trade him to Buffalo/Toronto.

Not sure how this relates to Guzan ... except to advise Brad not to be Brett - no painkiller addiction, no sports groupies, no all-time league leads in interceptions.
