Next Sunday will be the greatest day in Utah sports history. Who gives a crap if any of the college teams don't play a game that day...RSL in MLS cup!
Seriously, RSL winning and getting into the Cup, greatest day ever in Utah sports history for me. RSL winning the Cup next week, that becomes the new number 1.
I officially became a RSL first fan last night. As the utes played, I had a pip going... then, once things went where many expected them to (TCU is one hell of a team) I switched over to RSL. While this was what anybody else would have done, it became obvious to me where my loyalties lie. I may be a bit slower than the rest of you, but I became an RSL fan first and foremost last night. It was pretty cool

In chronological order: BYU National Champions Jazz go to the NBA Finals Utah busts the BCS and beats Pittsburgh Utah busts the BCS and beats Alabama are all before RSL winning the MLS Cup. If "Utah Sports History" means more than what Utah teams have done, then hosting the 2002 Olympics leaps to #1. Winning the MLS Cup comes before Utah advancing to the NCAA championship game in 1998 and BYU's run to the Elite Eight in 1981 (a personal favorite of mine). There are lots of things that I don't remember, like Utah and BYU's NIT championships. I'm sure there are some old-timers who would list Gene Fullmer defeating Sugar Ray Robinson to become the Middleweight World Champion.
I dunno -- that was a helluva run, and the whole town was buzzing. I think making the Final Four is ahead of an MLS Cup win, so getting to the actual championship game definitely has to come in on top.
Easily the biggest of all for me. The Olympics sucked because I got called to active duty to run a ********ing metal detector (really it was because someone thought people in military uniforms made good props) YBU? winning a national championship? It would never happen now and should not have happened then. Utes in the BCS, not a national championship, so not quite the same level. Anything basketball related? Is basketball really a sport? Need I go on?
Sunday's win over Galaxy is now #1 in my book (even over some of Utah's heorics in college football and basketball over the past decade). But surprised no one has brought up the Utah Stars ABA title which was a big deal back in its day. (And the next pre-season, that team played the NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks who were led by a young Lew Alcindor and played fairly competatively.) Anyone remember the "Lou Who?" billboards?
RSL = #1 in my books now, I just hope this wakes up the Jazz and they do something about it! it's their turn now! or we could just bring back to back titles
The Jizz will never win it all as long as Jerry Sloan is the coach and the Millers are the owners. The Jizz's goal is to simply make the playoffs every year, nothing more. Why do you think Karl Malone left? He just got sick of how the Millers only care about making money and not about winning it all. Hell, even if RSL doesn't win it all, at least they are entertaining to watch. The brand of basketball the Jizz play just sucks. It's boring, they do the same thing down the court every time and it just is no fun to watch. No thank you.
Do you really have to call them the Jizz? That is just disgusting. Last night has to rank up there pretty high... Donny Osmond won dancing with the stars.
