Evra has cost us same if not more, dont see us dropping him or our defense at times or awful midfield performances at times like Newcastle.

Well, we don't have anyone to play left back, so he has to play.

With regard to Lindegaard/De Gea, I don't know what to do. Anders has shown some weakness as well, but I think he will get the games against more direct teams who are more likely to cross a lot.
At least until De Gea learns how to handle them.

De Gea should be our number one...that is all...

At the current point I think they are about the same in terms of an overall level - they have different weaknesses and strengths. However if we are set on making DDG the future he needs runs of games.

That being said - if it's an open contest on who should be our number 1 I think Lindegaard has done himself proud and should have a claim on it. But DDG's got the larger upside. The idiot fans that thought these 2 would somehow just become VDS and we'd have no issues back there just don't get it.

As long as we are still contending for the league, I think we will rotate keepers.
I agree that we should make De Gea the #1 and let him learn on the job, but our current team is not strong enough to overcome mistakes from our GKs. If we are scoring for fun like we are earlier in the season, we will be okay to have a shaky GK. Unfortunately, we are far from our early season form :(

That's the balance that is on SAF and the GK coaches to figure out. If one is showing more in training, I think we simply need to go with that person for this season. Both players have had god amounts of PT but as of now we still have a chance to win the league. If we were out of competitions I'd be fine with giving DDG the season and letting him show what he has. But if Lindegaard is showing things in training and earns the spot, he deserves to play.

    Lol.

What a joke of a statement from Fergie. Hahaha. Of course he wants first team football, he's been saying it for over a year now. And getting in 2 keepers when VDS leaves showed that we didn't even plan on using him this year.

I still wonder why we didn't flip him this year and at least get a little cash out of him from a club needing a keeper. I know the recent double injury/illness shows how important depth is, but he was essentially a 4th goalkeeper. Wish we had got a few million quid.

Laughin out loud at Fergie saying "he doesn't want to sign a contract" - ahahaha

We couldn't flip him because he makes more as a backup for us than he will as a starter for a club suited to his skill.

I do not understand these situations where a player wants to leave a club, the club will not play the player, but the club does not sell. I suppose the valuation of the player is not being met, but the only ones suffering are the players and it is unfortunate.

I would have taken Sylvestre transfer amount of money.

I reckon there would have problems with the new wage contract for the new club.

    JC7's statement nailed it.

Johno, he was not a backup for us. He was nothing. I mean, I don't think he was in a squad all year until the Stoke match. You flip a player at that point, because all you are doing is losing wages and watching his transfer value decrease. That's it.

Yall aren't listening. Koozy wouldn't take a transfer because wherever he'd be going, he'd be getting paid less. We cannot force him to go anywhere. This way he can go where he pleases, get a fat wage with us until signing with the club of his choice. As a free agent so to speak, he'll have a better chance of landing a higher wage than if he was sold.

    Really?

I am pretty sure I read a story or two about him being desperate to leave but the club was unwilling to sell at the prices being offered. This was about a year ago because he wanted regular football. He has been pretty disgruntled for a while, IIRC.

I do not think it is a case of him enjoying the check for doing nothing.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that. He asked for a move, but the club said they were unwilling to sell at the time. I felt sorry for the guy, because he wasn't getting any games.

The wages thing is BS johno. He was begging for a transfer, Celtic I believe wanted him last summer and there may have been interest from Leeds. He wants to play, he may not even make Polands Euro squad because of his inaction.

If he wanted to play and wanted to be sold a GK who can only make our bench when our top 2 keepers are out would have been sold. We sold Gibson when we only had 3 recongized fit CMs. We'd have sold Koozy knowing full well his contract would be up and he'd go for free. It isn't in Fergie's nature to stand in someone's way unless he feels they are making a mistake or can make it at united.

I would have sent him on his way without a second thought.

    Was abysmal last season.

I think the posters who questioned De Gea's character should eat some crow. The kid hasn't been perfect. But one thing that he has shown is character. He has fought back the ABU's looking for his head, adjusted to a new country, language, playing style, and back-line changes. He's made some incredible saves that have saved us points. all in all, good first season

Yet another very solid performance by DGG. IMO, he's arguably been our 3rd or 4th best player since the new year.

Most importantly, I thought he really put himself about in some tough physical battles on aerial balls today. 2 or 3 times stand out. Still not excellent in that regard, but certainly very good.

Bottom line, he's been really showing bottle to match with his talent. Of course, it probably helps a lot having a predictable cb pairing in front of him.

Yeah, but he's also a great deal more confident than he was in the past. He's probably put on a bit of muscle and had loads of work coming out to collect crosses in training, but it is night and day for him in terms of commanding his area. He's not the complete package, but he's been excellent of late. If he manages to improve his command and sort out his kicking under pressure he'll be among the top at his position.
