I've been reading the new tidbits for each FIFA and PES...

Its still far too early, but early signs do not look good for PES. It looks like virtually the same game, where everyone runs like robots.

FIFA on the other hand have a new feature. Player personality..you can actually tell the difference between two players. Berbatov moves like Berbatov. etc

Still a lot more to work on for both games though. Oh yeah, and FIFA have finally gotten rid of that gay ass ping pong passing.

The question is whether they do more than just the biggest players. Rooney, Ronaldo, Messi, Ibra, Raul, Drogba, Torres, Gerrard, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Patoetc. are fine. But also include do Dzeko, Pogrebnyak, Lahm, Alves, the more "personalities" they can simulate they better the game will be. But I think they will focus on the bigger names and get it half-right. It's still EA Sports.

PES already have that. The card system is pretty effective. It is kinda like FM where you can tell a player how to play by turning them on or off. Like u can ask Rooney not to chase back or you can make Carrick balanced as opposed to defensively minded or ask him to play more Hollywood passes or less. You can make Park defensive and that amplifies his other card (can't remember it by name) that makes him work very hard in general.

PES player dynamic in terms of individual attributes and success rate based on these is still ahead. FIFA is still a bit too generic when it comes to players. We shall see if player personality can change this.

EDIT: Sorry benni I skimmed your post. Were you only talking about player animations?

Nah, overall. But I agree with both of you. PES did a decent job with that.

I've been enjoying the leaked PES videos (where they were testing the new crowd reactions and cinematics) which showed some of the gameplay. The off the ball runs by attackers and the like look great :)

Looking back on my fond PES memories I think its time to pay tribute to a few players: Dagaka, Wallner, Obinna, Aissati, Kompany, Park Chu Young, Afellay, McKenzie, and Mathieu.

Was this last PES (2010) as bad as some make it out to be? I've been a loyal soldier to the PES series and can't get enough of Master League. That being said, I've yet to purchase/play any of the versions for the next gen consoles (aside from demos). Should I hold out until the new one or possibly scoop this one up (Realize someone else has asked this same question)? See it on amazon for $20 plus shipping.

The new master league is worth it imo - especially at the current price. You may be able to get it even cheaper used at gamestop. The new master league allows you to play with the full roster of the team you select and encorporates the UCL into it. Finally. The way transfers and finances are handled is better than any other game I've played. Overall, it isn't a great game. But it is still pretty immersive.

I thought the last year was the best of the 'next-gen ones. 08 and 09 were much worse IMO. I'd probably play FIFA over it though if the PC actually got the console version instead of FIFA 06 with updated rosters.

Appreciate the advice. I'm going through Master League withdrawal.

I rented it on PS3 this weekend. It's pretty good, 3rd person shooter, and you can transform at will. Voice acting is true to the TV show (save for Megatron). You can play as Autobots & Decepticons in the Campaign mode. Supports up to 3 player Co-op online, and up to 10 in Team based Deathmatch.

Big fan of Fable and even though I don't expect any breakthroughs with Fable 3, I will probably end up buying it.

For the record I am one of many who has the Wii60 combo this generation.

The 3DS stole the show with the hardware taking a leap in the right direction and the inclusion of 3D. Unfortunately the latter is something you need to see for yourself which makes it difficult to judge. It seems to have received universal praise (other then Sony whining about the lack of glasses jibe) which can only be a good thing. The return of Kid Icarus is great as is the updates to the likes of Ocarina of Time, Star Fox, Pilotwings and Mario Kart. Thankfully there also seems to be a lot of developer interest with Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil being two of the main franchises involved. I held off buying a DS (the first hand-held generation I have missed from Nintendo) but I am definitely in for this one. Other than that I always love a new Zelda and the Goldeneye remake has the potential to be superb or utter shite. Hopefully it will be the former. Other than that the games I enjoyed seeing were Test Drive Unlimited 2, Dead Rising 2, Portal 2 and Dead Space 2. The first two were vastly underrated and missed by a lot of people the first time around. I will be buying a 360 S for when I move back home in a couple of months. The main disappointment for me was the absence of Milo and Kate. Oh and Konami, WTF?!?
