New on this -- according to the FA, Liverpool is not appealing the charges.

Looks like Suarez has been railroaded into accepting the charge.

Credit to Liverpool for reacting to the atrocious FA with dignity and respect, something the FA have yet to figure out.

I want to point out that this is substantially what most of us said. He was railroaded, he can't get justice, point that out and move on.

If I was Bellamy at Old Trafford I'd announce that Evra called me a white limey bastard "ten times" and then see what happens.

Bellamy would get charged and banned for lying, of course...

On another note, it will be most interesting to see how this plays out. Suarez and the club clearly saw no point in continuing the FA process; will there be other avenues to pursue our interests?

I wondered this as well. Whats the point in further jockeying around in kangaroo court, eh?

In the US, generally a Party is required to exhaust all remedial measures before it can take its action/appeal to the courts of the state. The FA, private or quasi-government as it is, Im not sure how it fits with it's appeal process, or if that thinking applies in England.

Besides, Id think this matter is preferrable in the rear-view mirror, rather than smoldering on appeal. LFC has supported Suarez (and the Rio de la plata region) and spoken out against racism, one in the same. Thats all we need to do. Leave all the tail-packing for the FA, United, and Evra to worry about. Character assasination is not the game of LFC.

As I think LB said, lets go kick the h_ll out of everyone.

Evra is French. In French, "nègre" is like the English n-word, "noir" is just Black.

Suárez is South American, and all over South America "negro" (which sounds like "nègre" and like the English n-word) just means Black.

There is no way that the word "negro" alone is a slur. No way. Unless it was accompanied by modifiers that are insulting, calling someone "negro" in South America is not any different from calling them "Black guy" in English.

My mom is French, my dad Argentinian. Both Spanish and French are my mother tongues.

Nothing more to do but hope that Suarez sits and stews over this for 8 games to take it out on the Scum when we travel to the Theatre of Nightmares.
