Like I said, I have never been that fervent about gun control, but it gnaws at me when some (not you) want to absolve the gun and how it amplifies the damage any wacko can do.

If anything, mental health careis just as an important issue, because clearly this young man was not being helped in the right way.

    Random thoughts after Connecticut -
    - As a parent myself, horrified and heartbroken
    - So much needs to be repaired in our health care and case management approach to those with psychiatric problems - especially the "walking wounded" who fall between the cracks in our system.
    - Our Second Amendment doesn't give everybody the right to own an assault rifle or body armor for that matter. Keep military weapons in the hands of the police and military - we've got an army and national guard already.
    - Common sense - as in the lack of it - is usually present in these situations. The story now is the shooter's mother had attempted to "bond" with a troubled, socially isolated son by showing him how to operate her guns and taking him to target practice... ???!!!??

I heard that, too. Sad if true. apparently, she was a "doomsday prepper" that home-schooled her son. You can't make this crap up.

Was walking to the station in the morning. Came across random pedestrian holding a newspaper. Did not catch the name of the paper but emblazoned on it was "Killer was avid Call of Duty Player" something along those lines.
Anyways I feel for the family who had to lose such beautiful young children. It is extremely sad. It makes my stomach turn thinking of those teachers who lost their lives in order to protect and save some of the kids.
The media has been all over this but it is quite unfortunate that some of the reporting has been very poor. Yes we do deserve to know how many died and their names. But to be publishing personal photos of the family on the paper on one day and the next to name the people in the photos? What kind of circus is that. We need to leave the families alone and give them privacy and stop digging around their personal information. It does not matter that one british child died, what matters is several kids and their teachers passed away in a very tragic manner.
    RIP YNWA

Strangely, I tried to dignify this thing by ignoring it. Which is to say, such a horrific action, made me so sick inside, i determined to myself that one more second spent gawking at the cameras was only really time spent in the perpetrators evil space. So i said "enough" and i turned it off and left it off. I wont dignify this fcker with my brain space. He and his ilk from now on are trees in forests for me. Ive purposly forgotten his fcken name. fck him. up the ass. i dont give a shit what his childhood problems were. not even a little.

so far its working. God knows if its a correct response, surely it wont solve the problem. But on the other hand rubber neckers staring at the scene cause lots of ancilary accidents at worst and tie up traffic at least, so im kindathinking of this in the same way.

Now, on a other matter, heres some brain space for ya: Thought of a great Headline for the daily fail:

"Shaw Cross, Fellateme going down again over head, butt incident."

    kinda writes itself

Got sick by going swimming and bike riding on the only two days so far this year where its hit below 60 degrees.

It was a bone-chilling 48 degrees the other night and we went to someone's hot tub and pool. No freaking wonder I'm leaking out of my nose like a gulf-ocean oil spill

Last Christmas I was living in Hawai'i. This year Connecticut. We went to PA to see the family (my wife's, whom I also adore) and got a lovely dusting of snow late yesterday afternoon. Just enough to be really beautiful without being a hassle. Then on to NYC for Christmas lunch with abuela--Puerto Rican grandma flat out knows how to cook....Holy cow it was fantastic. Pasteles, pasalon (I probably spelled that all wrong, but it's ripe plantains baked with cheese and ground meat) and then a pork roast with gandules and arroz. Oh yeah, life is muy bueno en mi mundo.

My mom "made up" for the previously mentioned Torres jersey by giving me an old Reebok home jersey from 2002. It still has the tags on it w/ Ged Houllier's pic and all.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

Now I have a few Eric Blehm books to read, and the first season of "Homeland" to watch on blu-ray.
