Didn't Erik Nevland play for United in the past? If so he scored a pretty huge goal for Fulham this weekend. Not the biggest name but still an ex-United player if I remember correctly.
I think it was 97/98 or 98/99 he played a few cup matches and I think one league match. Then we sent him out on loan the next two seasons and then I think he went back to Norway.
given that there in group stage of CL next season after finishing second. I guest he did well last season there. I still think we should have not sold him.
Fantastic player, still a bit raw (too individualistic, somewhat unpolished off the ball), but his skill on the ball is top-notch. During the first half of the season he was one of the best players in La Liga, until injury slowed him down after Xmas. I don't know why you sold him either, I'll be surprised if he doesn't command a 25-35 million euro fee two or three years from now.
He was sick of being loaned out, and wanted guarenteed first team football, which we couldn't give him (at the time, he was behind Rooney, Saha and probably Solskjaer) so he wanted to leave. Also, the signing of Tevez was probably the last nail in the coffin.
Really, one of the best players in La Liga in the first half of the season? That's great. The reason I'm asking is that Rossi is set to get his Azzurri debut soon but most of us are really only familiar with him when he was at Parma so we don't know how he's been doing in Spain beyond statistics.
We also had Smith on the books when we sold him. I'd think he would have been behind all of them, including Smith, and at the time there was a lot of speculation about the Tevez transfer.
Interesting story about one of our youth products who was injured horrifically enough to end his career. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=553633&sec=england&cc=5901
I hope it turns out well for him. It must have destroyed him psychologically - it will be even worse should he lose the case.
so Eric Djemba-Djemba was dumped by Aston Villa last season and today faced them on the opposite side in the 2-2 draw. he signed a 3-year deal with Odense Boldklub a couple days ago.
