Not really sure who has the rights but if a game starts at 1PM London time that will be around midnight Sydney time.

I'm hoping for mostly primetime USA and Australia games in London (7PM) which will be around 6AM Sydney time.

The Olympics are normally broadcast on FTA as well as pay tv. Pay tv might have more comprehensive coverage (due to having more channels) but FTA does show all of the important stuff. Pretty sure Channel 9 has the rights for the next Olympics.

    Possibly on pay TV.
Not sure if SBS covers it, but if they do it will be on the graveyard shift.

Most of the Olympics coverage will be for other sports and games that Australia are involved in.

Not sure, the only FTA channel that might air it would be SBS. It'd either be SBS, ESPN or Setanta.

Your best bet would be to stream or get satellite.

More than likely the only group games will be Australian. Once they get to the knock out stages though those games should be on free to air.

You would have to ask them.

But I would think that most satellite providers will have more than one sports channel.

Re: Who Will Broadcast 2012 Olympics For Australia

Channel nine and Foxsports have the rights. If history is anything to go by, channel nine will pretend to cover all major swimming and athletics live, whilst actually showing most events on delay and spend 50% of the broadcast time showing some clown in a studio talking crap. There may be some stuff on their other digital channels, but it will probably be the same. Fox sports will charge a premium (over their normal subscription fee) to show some sports you never heard of, and its here that the football has usually been shown. Don't expect a live broadcast of any of the football, but they may surprise us. Usually it starts at the right time, but takes around half an hour longer as they squeeze in commercials and slightly delay the telecast.

Possibly Brazil is a lower priority team here.

I would not be suprised if they showed some UK games, but would also not be suprised if they didn't- and UK would be the second priority.

Don't expect any non-Australian games until finals.

ESPN play quite a few live Barca games, that is for sure. I've never had Sentanta sports though so not sure about the other two.

ESPN comes in your basic sports pack. It shows the big La Liga games. Setanta shows pretty much everything else like Copa Libertadores and WC2014 qualifiers. Not sure if any of the channels show the Brasil league games though

Where To Find Official Soccer News In Australia NSW

Hey, I just wanted to know where do you people find your soccer news/press from in Australia Sydney? (except from the internet)

I want to find the latest news about teams like Brazil, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and news about players such as Neymar and Messi.

I use the internet for news/press, but I want to find official news from like the new papers or TV. Do they have that in Australia?
I dont think you can find soccer news in Australia like they do in Brazil and England.
And how can I find the latest upcoming matches for Barcelona and Brazil? I usually use the Internet for that too, but is the any TV channel or something that will tell you?

I will be getting Setenta Sports soon.

SBS world news always has a football story or two, even on a slow news day. The others rarely bother. Sydney Morning Herald is the better of the two major daily papers for football coverage. Your best bet is to stick to the Internet. I check out fourfourtwo australia and the world game websites daily. They do a great job IMO...

Depends. In all honesty you should just watch it. If it isn't to your liking (which it probably isn't as this isn't Brazil or even south america) then you are stuck with the internet.

I am in the same boat. Hardly no USA news but I still watch the show when I can.
