That was brilliant. Stewart wasn't going to let that one get by.

The TDS piece reiterates something I've been saying...McCain is CONSTANTLY insulting my intelligence.

I saw this last night and it made me realize:

    1) McCain totally sucks and offers nothing but vague promises.
    2) The media sucks and refuses to do its job.
    3) Stewart and Colbert are doing the real work for the media via satire.
    4) McCain is even more presumptuous than Obama
    5) I can't watch any traditional or cable news any longer.
    6) The media refuses to focus on issues because they'd rather spend their time discussing ads and commercials. You know, being "meta" about the campaign.

Spot on, my man. I stopped watching any MSM over a month ago and my mental health is much improved.

I saw the TDS spoof, also. It was right after the McCain picks Hannah Montana as our ambassador of awesome section that you posted earlier.

Every voter, especially every conservative voter, should watch that Stewart clip.

Absolutely spot on and hilarious - because he successfully points out the ridiculousness of the McCain adds, and the conservative biased media, all through biting satire.

Do we expect to see musical guests on a now semi-regular basis on TCR? He's had one or two here and there before but recently they seem to be on all the time. He needs a bigger studio if this continues.

I prefer seeing Colbert interview somebody. Usually hilarious. Unless the musical guest is extremely cool (Rush, for example was a pretty good musical guest...and it lasted overnight :p)

I don't mind a musical guest if it's a special occasion but if his show stays at 30 minutes I'd prefer to see a good length interview. He is such a good interviewer it's a shame if they have to cut time from the interview for a musical guest.

I've enjoyed SC's ongoing Canton bit. I was wondering when Canton SD would be highlighted.

If you're on I-29 and you get off by mistake
Well Brother thats the worst wrong turn you're ever going to make
You're in Canton South Dakota, Canton South Dakota
Where the dogs all run away
    North Dakota's dirty ashtray
You're in Canton South Dakota Canton South Dakota
    What's up Canton South Dakota?
    Not a damn thing!

I was just in Canton this weekend on my way to the Sioux Empire Folk Festival.

I'm anxiously waiting for Canton, MI to be on there. Now there's a shithole. Well, not really. I'm still sour about getting our asses handed to us by their soccer teams.

Mrs. Ismitje and I popped "Canton" into The Weather Channel's local forecast to see how long this can continue; the answer is months still! :)

The local paper got quotes from a few Cantonians for todays edition, most seemed amused and got the joke, others were lame-o's.

"A new Pew Survey on News Consumption released yesterday reveals that viewers of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are more knowledgeable about current events than those who watch Bill O’Reilly, Lou Dobbs, Larry King, and the “average consumers of NBC, ABC, Fox News, CNN, C-SPAN and daily newspapers.”

They're still doing research on that? It should be understood by now, they've done research on it for some time.

Anyway, who else liked Stewart's Russia-Georgia report?

    "In Europe!"

I don't think you wanna bring that up...seeing as Rush Limbaugh was one of the highest ranking media outlets when analyzed in terms of knowledgeable listeners. Even better than Colbert and TDS.

Actaully, a quick scan of the overall numbers shows they're rather pathetic and depressing.

Given how that survey defines "high knowledge," I don't think you can make this argument. They asked 3 questions, 2 of which are the kinds of things that Limbaugh and his ilk would harp on over and over and over again.

And Colbert and TDS wouldn't harp on them?

My whole point was this study was pretty worthless.
