seems like messi is on track to win 2009 2010 will go to whoever wins the world cup, which definitely wont be Portugal. so 2011/12 he might be able to win it again...well have to see but congrats to him he is a great player and already is a legend.
Wasn't Pele saying Ronaldo wasn't the best player during the season last year..lol..He kept saying Kaka, Robinho were better. Pele is a mess...lol
Pele always said Ronaldo deserved to win it this season, never heard him say anything different even before the Brazil vs Portugal game I watched on TV the brazilian announcers ask him who was better he said he prefers kaka but this season ronaldo has been the best. it was funny when he announced ronaldo's name, he said that last year he told ronaldo that he would win the award next season and thats what happened.
I remember when he was 19 showing off his trophies and it was mostly fan voting awards from various countries. That trophy room looks like a museum now.

our team needs to improve seriously before we have a shot at the WC Ronaldo's best chance to win something with Portugal will be euro 2012 because hopefully by then we get a solid keeper, DM, LB, and striker. wc 2010 is already a write off, 2014 is in brazil after that ronaldo will probbaly be old news.
in world player of the year we are tied for 3rd overall with Italy Country First place Second place Third place 1 Brazil 8 (1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007) 3 (1993, 1997, 1998) 3 (2000, 2003, 2006) 2 France 3 (1998, 2000, 2003) 4 (1991, 2003, 2004, 2006) 2 (1997*, 2002) 3 Italy 2 (1993, 2006) 1 (1995) 1 (1994) 3 Portugal 2 (2001, 2008) 1 (2000) 1 (2007) 5 Germany 1 (1991) 1 (2002) 2 (1992, 1995)
nope its a drink call poncha that they drink in madeira its moonshine with sugar cane and some juice.
Might be but its very realistic considering how we've played recently. All these countries have won some sort of championship except us.... Talent but no glory.
If you get a chance to watch “Prós E Contras” on RTP I this week – do. They talked about C Ronaldo’s awards and part of it was on the state of soccer in Portugal. Some very good points were brought up. And of course he called the program while it was airing.
did they happen to mention that ticket prices are economically insane? I love the fact that instead of dropping ticket prices in order to get more people in bringing the gate up and concessions way up....they now opt to have cheerleaders as that is what N.America has
I've made that statement here many times. 100 people buy tickets * $20 = $2000 100 people buy concessions * $10 = $1000 Total = $3000 200 people buy tickets * $10 = $2000 200 people buy concessions * $10 = $2000 Total = $4000 It's simple accounting. But these marketing genioussous don't get it. The SuperLiga has lost a generation - this generation because dear old dad can't buy tickets to take his son to the game. So his son sits at home and watches the EPL. So, this generation will not be taking their kids to any of the games because there is no tradition. They should be using this fame from C Ronaldo and building up the portuguese game. Take the dedication that C Ronaldo has shown and instill some of the pride back into our game. Forget about the top three Porto, Benfica, and Sporting - start supporting the smaller teams so that way all of them grow together. Build a stronger league - just like Ronaldo elevates the play of those around him by including them.
Sounds interesting! Almost like a Caipirinha. This whole state of portuguese futebol is kind of depressing there are so many things wrong it's hard to look for positives.
