I said you were as bigoted as your perceptions of limited-government people. How is that the victim card? It's more a "you paint those with whom you disagree as harboring evil thoughts" card. Which, let's face it, is a pretty blatant form of bigotry, laced with irony. There's been a rather large uptick in this sort of thinking since, oh, November 2008, on TEAM BLUE, which matches or even exceeds what TEAM RED has had on offer for a while.

Because clearly I have created an alternate reality out of thin air in order to justify the demonization of a political opponent. Because that's how I roll.

    That's what you're saying, right?

What are you claiming is the "alternate reality"?

Don't know, because I have no idea what you're talking about with the alternate reality business.

Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here’s Tom with the weather.

If your idea of "meaningful discussion" necessitates me embracing the assumption that what motivates most of limited-government movements is racism, there's nothing for us to discuss. It's poisoning the well.

    Sorry, Smokey.

I don't remember you being so touchy.

Obviously you disagree with my original premise, is it your contention that the states rights/limited government platform is color-blind (or post-racial, whatever you want to call it)? And if so, how do you reconcile that to the disproportionate impact on minority and/or low income communities that would happen with the dismantling of some of the large federal programs that serve those communities? See also welfare reform in the 90's.

As an aside, we had, just last week, I think, a Republican presidential candidate get booed at the NAACP, and said disaster was followed by commentators talking about how it would be helpful with the Republican base. Which to me appears problematic.

Not even thinking about rising to this bait. Not this time.

This is the last bit I'm responding to, because there's more actual facts to this (and you're making me stand up for Willard the Cronyist Wanker, which pisses me off): he received a pretty decent amount of applause for "standing up for traditional marriage", for supporting the Keystone XL pipeline, and for supporting charter schools.

But, yeah, he was booed for something you might expect him to get booed for, so let's just talk about that.

I'm disappointed you didn't answer my question, as I'm curious.

You are correct that he received applause for what you mentioned. But the whole affair was tense and not his finest moment as a politician.

I'd press you more on why you think the after-spin was constructed like it was, but I won't since you've communicated you're done with the discussion.

So now the aside is the discussion? I thought it was an aside. Willard has very, very little to do with limited government. He's a big government Republican - just not quite as big as W.

To the extent that Romney has defined it, his economic policy looks pretty much the same as Bush's. As for social policies, he is currently saying what the religious right wants to hear, but, like Bush, it is possible he will just ignore these types of issues once he actually would get into office.

His foreign policy advisory staff is pretty much the same people Bush had, the same wonderful crowd that brought us the Iraq war.

In essence, either way we go, we're getting Bush's 4th term.

    Splendid!

    More current events, but...

    Dear Israel,
I know you're pissed off and I don't hold that against you one bit. But, as someone who is right in the middle between you and Iran, please think before doing something stupid.

    Dear Israel,
We're going to extricate ourselves from the violent, two thousand year old spat that you and you're neighbor have.

If you're ever in the United States, give us a ring! We'll do dinner.
