The big question if they do indeed stay in LA is HOW are they going to differentiate themselves from LA Galaxy? Presumably either along geographical or ethnic lines? There needs to be a reason to follow the rebranded side instead of the Galaxy, otherwise it will just be a busted flush.

In fact, the parallels with the Australian A-League is there for all to see. A-League expanded into Melbourne, and made a bit of a mess of it. Melbourne Heart didn't really differentiate themselves from the wildly popular and successive Victory, and 4 or 5 years later, Victory are averaging 22,000 whilst Heart still only average 8,000 (2nd lowest in the league) and that is partly propped up by decent derby day crowds. But A League learned it's lesson and when expanding into Sydney, they branded and located a second team in the white collar western suburbs, called the team Western Sydney Wanderers, listened to fan groups with regards to colors, and the two teams are VERY evenly matched and derby day there is an increasingly big part of the sporting calendar.

Empire FC would be a pretty dope name. Then there is always LA Aztecs as well. either would be good.

Lets see if Garber does what David Stern did when he owned a team through the league as commissioner and screw over some teams.

Garber doesn't own LA2. The owners/investors in MLS do.

If they wanted, they should just host a "buy a ticket, vote for 2014 team name" night. Standing CUSA STH get 34 votes.

I kinda like the crazy idea of the Cosmos getting into MLS by moving to LA.

    LA Generals

They'd be the loveable team that goes out there and tries hard but let's the real entertainers and opponents win all of their games this season played against the Generals.

Also not a good name. It's just lazy thinking that because old NASL names had value in other West Coast cities, this one must also have value.

Also true. Most of the remaining NASL names that aren't being used have no value, Aztecs likely included.

There is only one name that honors LA's past and what The Don has done for the league (the SS should be called THE DON):

    LA DONS FC/SC
