All I knew is he was depth last year and brought in for depth this year. He has very quickly displaced Sapong. Incredibly quickly, considering how up Pete has been on CJ for a long time.

it could be argued that cj has displaced himself.

It certainly doesn't help that CJ is injured.

Or that (IMO) he is never played in his best position.

I didn't recall hearing that. Though injured or no, I'd still rather see Zizzo and Dovale battle it out for the non-Zusi wing spot.

The article this week on the SKC site about Myers and Saad returning said Sapong was still struggling and it was probably related to last year and all the games

It will be interesting to see who PV plays in this one and how he juggles the line up due to the USA game. I would like to see both Zusi and Besler start since Beckerman, Beltran, Rimando and Gil will probably be starting for RSL.

Yes, just saying that it 'sucks' for CJ that he can't fight for a spot when he's injured. Zizzo is a winger and knows that role. Say if Dom went down, then I would fully expect that CJ is the new number 2 CF. His strength and aerial ability is still very valuable in the right situations.

Oh, hey guys just for laughs I thought I'd put RSL's dirty laundry on display again.

3/9 v. DC Mansally given yellow card for tackle but DISCO gives Mansally a 1 game suspension for head butt.http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2013/03/14/abdoulie-mansally-headbutts-perry-kitchen

3/23 v. Dallas second yellow to Alvarez for diving.
    http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-03-23-dal-v-rsl/highlights/214601

    5/11 v. Mon Watson-Siriboe suspended one game by DISCOhttp://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/05/15/real-salt-lake-defender-kwame-watson-siriboe-shocked-one-game-suspension

6/08 v. LA Grabavoy suspended by DISCO for divehttp://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/06/11/mls-disciplinary-committee-fines-real-salt-lake-midfielder-ned-grabavoy-simu

6/29 v. Tor Beltran Straight red for fighting. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-06-29-tor-v-rsl/highlights/224754

    7/3 v. Phi Palmer straight red. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-07-03-rsl-v-phi/highlights/225399

7/20 v. KC Wingert receives yellow and then second yellow for a tactical foul on Saad. DISCO adds on game.http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-07-20-rsl-v-skc/highlights/227542

7/27 v. RBNY Alvarez gets yellow for tackle on Cahill. DISCO adds three games.http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-07-27-ny-v-rsl/highlights/228186

8/21 v. Por Alvarez gets straight red. http://golazo.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-08-21-portland-timbers-vs-real-salt-lake/details/video/38737

10/5 v. Dal Mansally gets straight red. DISCO gives him an additional game.http://golazo.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-10-05-real-salt-lake-vs-fc-dallas/details/video/40466 (This one is my absolute favorite because you can clearly hear Beckerman pleading for a yellow, and not to "Ruin the ********ing game")

That's six red cards and additional 8 games of suspensions handed down from DISCO.

All of Sporting's Red Card and Disco suspension.

6/22 CJ Sapong Red Card. http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2013-06-22-dal-v-skc/highlights/224156

5/08 Nagamura suspended one game by DISCO. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ee-suspends-fines-sporting-kcs-paulo-nagamura

Man, some of that dirt is harder than the Wu-Tang Clan on Performance Enhancing Drugs.

And remember the lesson here, kids: if you ain't tactically fouling, you ain't trying. And if you're doing that other stuff, you're either a psycho, an asshole, or just real stupid.

Thanks everyone. You have re-kindled my flame of RSL dislike!

I can't believe I forgot about Kei getting totally creamed and some of the RSL fanboys trying to defend it.

Dwyer really should have put in that 1v1 vs the backup goalie.

Wow,, ,,SKC did everything right tonight, except put the ball in the net. RSL keeper was outstanding. Dovale,,,,well, I am not sure what they see in that guy, he looked like he was in over his head.

I'm sure RSL feel they were done wrong tonight. This game reminded me of the SJ game at Livestrong a couple years ago. Zusi, Zizzo, Chance give us some very good width. Could be cynical, but have to admit there was a decent blueprint laid down tonight against a very good opponent.

That Duval kid needs to put on a few lbs but he looked clever at times.

Whoever that backup GK was needs to go on the radar for 2018. Only 25 doing his best Sean Johnson impersonation.

Speaking of impersonations, how about Beckerman's best Uri impression tonight with all the shirt and shoulder grabs. Impressive.

all you can ask for is that the other team allow you opportunities to score... and rsl obliged us quite a few tonight. another 2 points dropped. we dominated and have nothing to show for it, because once again, we can't finish. same ol' same ol'.

looks like normal service resumed. last week's finish was the exception, not the new standard.

looked to me like uri deserved the red. he went in studs up and sandoval did his best to avoid getting his lower leg snapped. at least from the replays i've seen (i've only seen it from behind uri), i have no complaints... well, other than at our own player.

jtreg, looks like you may have to change your narrative now with uri throwing a gigantic banana peel on your post up there. i mean, you and i, and basically everyone else supporting skc, know that we're not actually a thuggy team, but it just got a lot more difficult to defend that position.

    disappointing.

Yeah I was pretty excited that it had been a fairly quiet game from the physical standpoint....then Uri. Dumb and dangerous. And deserved. Sigh. Thats no bueno.

Other than that and not winning even though we had a number of good opportunities it was an enjoyable game.

Well, a stupid red card was bound to show up sooner or later. Went almost a year without one.

With as many chances as we had, it's hard to see a draw as a positive outcome. But damn, I have no problem applauding Attinella and moving on to the next game. RSL has got to be tickled pink that that guy is Rimando's back-up.

About the only way for Dom not to score on his 1 v1 with the keeper I to kick it where he did. How bout a little higher? How bout make a move and dribble around the keeper? How bout a foot more to the side? How bout anything than a line drive right at the keeper.

you can argue that Bieler wouldn't have been in that position, but Bieler finishes that chance.

This is exactly why Dwyer and/or anybody else we have started up top in the past 3 years have gotten more scoring chances. They simply make the runs and have the athleticism the system requires, and that's not a knock on Bieler but it's the truth.

Yet no one the last 3 years save Kei has scored more goals in a season for us, so that's not totally true.
