So Zusi and Besler have a game an Wednesday with the nats..... so the question is do we rest them this weekend or not? I could definitely see us playing Besler(because he's our captain and Ike is out) but it very well could go multiple ways I'd go with Peterson/Sapong-Bieler-Zizzo Nags-Benny Rosell Sinovic-Besler-Collin-Myers/Ellis Kronberg(My hero) Rest Zusi
I don't know if PV sees Toni as a winger. I mean if he did wouldn't we cut Peterson himself instead of Gardner/Jerome.
The quotes I've seen have had Vermes talk about his ability to play the wing positions, and his ability as a wingback was a bonus. And even his quotes himself make it seem like he's not expecting to be a defender here. As for cutting Gardner/Jerome, because we're bringing in Juliao the Brazilian and another rumored defender.
Toni is ready to start, you think? I wasn't really expecting to see him outside of a sub role until mid season. I don't know why that is though. How long has he been in KC?
no way do i sit zusi. if his playing time on wednesday is entirely in your control, then you can make plans for how to use him looking ahead. if it's not, which it likely isn't in this friendly, then you use your player as you see fit and take it as it comes. the decision to start or rest zusi should be for next weekend's game, not this weekend. i wouldn't think he's likely to start on wed anyway. i expect donovan to start in his place.
Every time I've ever heard someone say "Donovan is going to start in Zusi's place", Donovan and Zusi have both started. I'm really not sure why people still think those two are mutually exclusive.
Garth Lagerway also runs his mouth about how RSL play so beautifully and SKC are a bunch of thugs. Of course, watch us once again have the advantage over them in offensive stats and watch them commit more fouls than us.
i don't know what caused me to think about it, but today during lunch, it hit me that i wrote this post thinking that the us/mexico game was next wednesday. weird ... and also weird that no one pointed out my idiocy. i mean, the logic is sound, but it obviously doesn't really apply to this weekend's game.
I skim read over your comment and thought you were speaking about last night. Otherwise, I would have been very, very harsh.
Well, aren't you just the Sultan of Segue. Yes, on topic: that guy sucks at soccer, however may have a promising career as a strong safety. Semi-pro ...
It's hard to believe Peterson can still crack the line up after how well Zizzo and Zusi played against Colorado. Not that Vermes won't still play him, mind you.
I think Peterson is gonna also struggle because of Dovale, if he ends up being a winger. I expect him to start getting runouts at least, which will limit Jake's field time. It's really surprised me, though, how fit and powerful Zizzo has been looking. He's really gotten into the swing of things quickly around here.
I didn't know enough about him before to be surprised, but I can say I'm really pleased. On Zusi's goal, he demonstrated the pace we need and want to slice open a retreating defense. Quality.
