Flanno didnt well again either. Last week Milner tore him apart and today he gave Snodgrass a freebie
We win! and LFC are back in the Champion's League next season! Nervy, but job done... Up next - home against Chel$ki.
Job done, but boy did we miss hendo's energy in the second half. Hopefully Sturridge is back and won't be forced to start Lucas.
Last week they had to take Jesus Navas off because Flanagan had him in his pocket. They had to change tactics to deal with him.
Hard to really read the game overall - played lights out the first 20 mins - then settled and let them get into the game - some warning signs in the first half. Second half - we started off just asleep at the wheel and the goal was an absolute ******** up. Knowing that Norwich just needed one sniff to get back into the game and fight for their lives - and we gave it to them. The third should have wrapped it up - but it had the opposite effect as we again stopped controlling. Taking both Coutinho and Allen off was interesting given that they are our two controllers - but anyway - we held on. Not great - but I suppose that it wasn't meant to be easy - as Chelski and Citeh will tell you. By the way - we are in the Champions League Group Stage now - guaranteed!!
Well it was nervy as one might expect playing a team on the road who is fighting for survival but a win is a win. In the close season I really hope Buck addresses Skrtel's clutching and grabbing in the box on set pieces. How that hasn't come back to bite us in the ass is a mystery.
Lucky? Yes, but it's 3 more points! 5 clear of Chelsea. All I was hoping for is to get back into Champs League but this ELEVEN game winning streak (16 game unbeaten run) is worthy of a championship.
And Milner got past him on multiple occasions. One that lead to him playing a square ball for Silva's goal. Both fullbacks were shit so it's nothing personal aganst him
Whew turned into a bit of a nail-biter, which was unnecessary really. But 3 more points, guaranteed champs league (as was mentioned above). We win one of the last two and we've put Chelsea to bed... Let's win both and take this puppy home!
Sterling MOTM. He grows with every game. SG 2nd. Allen put in a good shift but was rightfully substituted when it become clear a more physical presence was needed. I didn't realize Lucas was playing until the announcer said his name in the 35th minute. Not a great game from him - it must be better next weekend. Mings at fault for allowing Norwich back into the game with his brain fart. Coutinho - not good enough today. Didn't have the energy he showed last week - the inability to be switched 'on' against EVERY opponent is what will keep him from being truly world class. Flanno - His form continues to revert to the mean. Let's hope he can do the job in the final three games. Glen - Two dangerous mistakes, lucky to not be punished by Norwich in both instances. Suarez - good finish. Invisible most of the game as we were under the gun. Should have been selfish at the end.
Oh, and didn't Luis just score his 30th goal of the season? 5 more and he'll be the all time PL scorer
A win is a win is a win. 3 points away to a relegation-threatened team with only 4 games left is no easy task. Just look at City and Chelsea at home to relegation-threatened Sunderland. This is more than just form from Sterling, this is ability and class. He's in line to be our top player if and when Suarez moves on. Bring on Chelsea next, we can draw that game if need be. If City drop points tomorrow, we can even lose and still be favourites. Even so, lets continue rolling and get the full 3 points again.
My only worry is that Allen and Lucas look petrified when it comes to the final third. In the league we have 11 different players who have scored and 15 different players who have assisted. Lucas and Allen have done neither. If Sturridge is not fit for Chelsea I would swap the two of them and let them play as the deeper mids and push Gerrard a little further forward. Suarez needed more/better support. Gutted that Sterling didn't get his hatrick. To think some of you wanted him dropped for Aspas after the Hull game. Shame on you
