Inter Milan Embroiled in Italian Match-Fixing Investigation July 6, 2011 Current president of Inter Milan Massimo Moratti. (Getty Images) (WFI) A federal prosecutor says Inter Milan bribed Serie A referees during the 2004-05 season, the latest allegation in the Italian match-fixing scandal known as Calciopoli. Stefano Palazzi claims former Inter president Giacinto Facchetti violated the ethics of football and attempted to provide an unfair advantage to the Nerazzurri. The investigation kicked off last year after the trial in Naples against former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi led to archiving for prescription of all defendants. Juve were eventually relegated and stripped of two titles. Now the Serie A giants are, in turn, demanding the revocation of the 2006 title later assigned to Inter. Italy’s football association is expected to make a decision at its meeting scheduled for July 18. Moratti has been quick to defend both his team and his predecessor, calling the charges brought by Palazzi “offensive, serious and silly.” "Inter doesn't accept these allegations,” he said in a statement posted to the club’s website. Moreover, [we don’t accept] those about the involvement of Facchetti, who is no longer with us." Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, former Juventus president, says interaction between owners and referees was commonplace during those days. "In that period too many managers and directors used to talk with referees,” he told Italian media. “Juve did it, but Inter as well. The 2005/06 title doesn't have to be assigned." Luciano Moggi, ex-Juve general manager who was recently banned from football for life, echoed Gigli in comments also made to Radio 24. “I don’t think that the so-called gang of honesty can still be called that,” he said. “The Inter offence does not surprise me, and I'm glad that from the process of Naples at least some truth emerged. I have no feeling of revenge. I only have the desire to defend myself.” By INSIDER's Gabriele Perrone http://www.worldfootballinsider.com/Story.aspx?id=34491
my 3 pesos: the title that is in question shouldnt have been given to anyone in the first place the strong accusations against Facchetti are very hard to swallow and believe If there is to be punishment, I honestly doubt anyone is going to get relegated we'll see what happens on the 18th
What is coming out today was already known 5 years ago. Moggi said it many times. Just because he's a criminal doesn't mean what comes out of his mouth also has criminal intent. If Inter doesn't get its title stripped it will be a "black eye" on Seria A football that could cause more hardship for this already troubled league.
This is huge because for five years Inter fans were singing about being the only honest team in a corrupt system, about winning without stealing, about never stealing a Scudetto. I know most of their fans never celebrated the 2006 Scudetto but, as Moggi said, lets see if Interista still sing about not stealing.
yeah....no you can personally tell them to shut up cause things are not yet in the clear Roma is another honest team, aren't they?
Classic line. Athough judging the last year seems like Inter fans hop off bandwagons after trebles. Don't hurt any ankles now
I'll speak on behalf of most of the very few inter fans we have, we don't really care or want to talk about this this is a thread created by a juve fan in the inter forum, thats fine but by the lack of inter fan input its obvious that this does not belong here, you're better off talking in your own threads which have plenty of input on another note, im not surprised why you ask why, yet this is the only thread I see you took interest in when there is and are threads that need to be closed and threads to be unstickied which we have mentioned before, only to fall to deaf ears or mods who are responsible are too lazy to do it, or don't bother taking a look every once in a while this is not an attack of any sort and I am not asking too much
unsticky and close Summer '10 transfer thread, Leonardo where do we go from here, Search for inter's new coach there's 2 other threads that can be but I rather see what people say first, this one and the title Defense begins I thank you for taking your time in doing this, however it amazes me how many mods are in charge of this place and yet all of them seem to just take care of their own forums. Which is understandable since this place doesn't have a lot of traffic but it begs the question if they can't(and I mean any of them) look from time to time then why be assigned to this place
That's been unstuck, don't really need to close it since nobody has posted in it in months it's dropped out of radar. We do look in, but can't really tell what people want stuck and unstuck. Just give us a heads up and we'll respond.
So you don't want to discuss the fact that Inter violated Article 6 and should have been relegated but weren't because of who was in charge? That's fine, but it's still an appropriate topic for this forum since it is an Inter forum. If people don't want to talk about it the thread will die.
Ideally--and this is just my 2 Chilean pesos--I would propose to each weekend stick that specific weekend's Seria A game. For instance, for the first week the game will be against Lecce. Thus, I would stick that game thread. Just a suggestion. I would also propose that for Champs. League matches.
thank you for that if you're looking in then you would have seen posts that ask for this several weeks and months ago both by me and metro I guess the PM will have to be the form of communication No we don't, we will accept and move on with whatever happens and the topic is appropriate yet some of the posts just take jabs and add nothing people have to respect that it is an Inter forum, you don't see any of the regulars here going to other forums and doing that which btw is a problem that occurs here from time to time
What we've done in other forums is created a gameday thread that's stickied, but it's not for just one game. We usually let it go for a months worth of games so that way we don't start new threads for each game. We could definitely do something like that.
Welcome to the internet, trust me, as a Juve fan we're constantly getting fans from other teams into our forum berating/picking on us. As long as it's not trolling and civil there's no reason to close it. If people are trolling then feel free to report them and we'll remove said posts.
You have to report the post. Click on the little yellow triangle with the exclamation point in it below the person's username (to the left). That will send a message to mods about the particular post.
lol @ the interistas wanting this thread closed. whats the matter guys? glass house is falling? This a completely legit discussion, therefore it deserves its own thread.
I think it was my troll of bandwagons and praising good line from a poster above me. I didn't find it horribly bad didn't mean to hurt anyones feelings . Honestly I see much much worst jabs on the Juventus boards but hey I see regular posters just suck it up. I think it really sucks when your club is getting it bad from backdoor plays. Suck it up.
