Anyone ever had one of these Heady Toppers? The best beer in the world Only in Vermont can you buy Heady Topper, and even then you can't be sure
Best beer in the world, eh? Does that mean I'll now find it easier to get my hands on some Westvleteren? Speaking of rare beer, rumor has it that a local pub in Columbus will be tapping a keg of Founder's KSB any day now.
No, but I have relatives who live in Vermont near Barre, so only 30 minutes away from Waterbury. I'll have to ask them to try to grab one of those 4-packs for me.
Not yet, but my brother-in-law has some and he promised me one. He says its pretty damn good. We are doing a family reunion of sorts in Vermont for Labor Day and their brewery is on the activities list. Heady Topper is only available in cans and theres like 5 places you can buy it outside the brewery, all in Mid-Vermont.
Okay, so this thread got me motivated to ask the b-i-l about the Heady Topper he promised. And, he came through ! My nephew dropped off a four pack this afternoon and I'm delivering you all a first....LIVE BEER REPORT. Heady Topper is a really good beer. Its a belgian-style double IPA. 8 % ABV. Golden yellow, mild head, and unfiltered. Actually, unfiltered is an understatement. There's floaties in my beer ! Its not an overpowering hop assault (although I do like many of those). Its hoppy and full of esters all at the same time. It may not be the best beer in the world but its top 5 for me.
I've heard plenty about Heady Toppers and Founders' KSB but neither is sold in Colorado so I've never had the chance to taste them. But I will hopefully be picking up Firestone Walker's Parabola later today.
