American Craft Beer Fest in 6 hours ! http://beeradvocate.com/acbf/beer I'm in my pre-event taper. Watching soccer and drinking water. Can't wait.
What did you think? Their lager is one of my favorite day-to-day beers. My other local favorite is... Dammit. Stupid ipad doesn't let me link mages. So here is the website for Straub Beer of St. Mary, PA. Sorry for the fact that you have to enter a birthdate. http://www.straubbeer.com/home.php Nothing spectacular, but a good clean fresh taste. Ideal for hot summer days.
First off - Straub is AWESOME! I have had it before. My uncle in law brings it to the beach for me. I did not like the Yuengling not only is it hard to spell it taste awful. That said I like their bock better than their regular beer/lager/ale what ever it is. It leaves a very hairsprayish taste in yer mouth. But I won't buy that again.
What a great evening ! About 550 beers from 120 brewers. Totally baked by 8:30 pm. I tried to only taste beer/brewers that I hadn't had before. Best beer I had last night = Lunch IPA by Maine Beer Company Best unusual beer - Spicy Bohemian by Throwback Brewery - a dry hopped pilsner with roasted jalapeno peppers -
Absolutely sublime. One of the best new beers I've tried in some time. http://sixpoint.com/beers/core/resin
Each Summer I buy a few random microbrews in cans to drink around the pool. I had some Bengali Tiger in cans last Summer. Didnt thrill me. I can't remember why. I generally like Sixpoint Brewery, though. Ill definitely try the Resin.
It may only be distributed in the North East. I know you can find Sixpoint at several local liquor stores in Massachusetts. The only restaurant/bar I have ever seen it served is Sunset Grill in Allston http://www.sunsetgrillallston.com/index.html Here's where I usually beer shop and found Bengali Tiger: http://www.martysfinewine.com/index
interesting....I like the lager alot. The ale is pretty and good and the black and tan is not bad either. never heard anyone refer to an after taste after drinking any of them. I am going to hunt down the Bock and give that a try
I don't have the problems with Yeungling (besides spelling it) that Ivan has, but I would re-iterate his recommendation of Straub. Damn fine local brew from St. Mary's, PA. A few years ago, I would've recommended Stoney's, brewed in Smithton, PA by Stoney Jones, grandfather of Partridge family mom Shirley Jones. But Stoneys has been taken over by a different brewer and it lost a lot of what made it good.
what a shame. i have in laws( a brother and an uncle ) up that way. i may still ax them to bring some from both this summer.
Well, the big difference is that Stoneys used to have no preservatives. That meant you could drink more of it and not get a hangover. It's not bad now, but it's best to stop after one or two six packs.
I'll have to look for it. I Can only get Yuengling here in CT at the military base. Not sure if Straub is available at the local packy
aaaahh... hopefully i'll have some of the Stoney's Dark Premium Lager on the way... Straub will only be found in PA too... http://www.straubbeer.com/the_brewery.php
just so happens my mom is driving to Pittsburg at the end of the month. I'll ask her beau to pick me up a case of lager if he can find it
