Not really. If it's the fifth or sixth biggest sport in their country then why is it weird?

 

It might also be that the women's team has had more success over the years, than the men's and that's why they see it as inferior to basketball (in which they have no competition).

In the womens game other nations just don't have that much of a headstart, or are actually behind. The german DFB didn't allow its members to have womans football sections or even let womans football clubs use their facilities until 1970. Also they had different rules for womens football (different shoes, time limits, smaller ball etc.) until the early 90s.

He will miss Villareal (H), Getafe (A) and Elche (H). Not the worst matches to miss but still a blow.

 

Only Villarreal is the one that makes me slightly nervous.

The rest I'm ok with him missing.

To be honest I think this is a blessing in disguise for us . He won't be missed against Villareal (home game), Elche and Getafe but he can still play against Atletico and will be fresh for Schalke games (and the rest of the season).

I agree, plus I think we lost or drew there last year. It won't be easy, but we still should get the 3 points, with or without Ronaldo.
