sky blue record over two seasons is 12-15-8. goals for/against 32-40. three good playoff games mask their mediocrity. this isn't criticism just facts.
Are you trying to make Charlie Naimo cry? While Sky Blue have always played the underdogs, that just means they know how to be clutch when the time comes.
And that's a hell of a lot harder to do than, to have a winning season only to lose the Championship final match. You know the one that actually matters..........
mookie, im not gloating. its sad to see what is happening to a team LOADED with talent. the problem never was about who coached the team. the problem isnt even marrone who is out of his depth. the problem is even higher and it will end in tears.
these guys really have no long term vision and clue what they are doing http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/skyblue2.php?article_id=24585
I agree. I don't think there's any structure and I don't feel like they're really asking much of their players. It really became apparent to me when I read Yael's last blog. It's almost like she doesn't realize that with around two more losses out of about 8 games to go, they will be sitting on their a**es on a sofa watching someone else win that cup. I really think they need a coach and system like the new one they're doing at Real Madrid. I really think it's going to take for them to fall on their a**es and be exposed for anything to happen.
speaking of Yael, can you detect her sarcasm? "The other day we played a mean game of kickball at training. For the record, my team won. I am not really sure how this will help us..." "Our coach, Rick Stainton, tells us jokes before practice. I doubt any other team gets such a quality laugh before training." and maybe even during training? she is funny!
Apparently I can't. I didn't see it in that way when I read it, but then again I was still freshly upset about another loss. Seeing it from that perspective you could be right. I just really hope they get it together. I've never played kickball at a practice. See how much you can run before dying is such a lovely exercise.
Their practice was basically this? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrsD2XtVR-8&feature=related"]YouTube- Long home run by 32 Left Feet‎[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC_fEkZ4fEo&feature=related"]YouTube- drunken kickball 2‎[/ame]

So which team does have a long term plan? How can they with so much upheaval every 6 months, either firings, teams folding, front offices with revolving doors... You want to check out a team with a plan look at Wolfsburg or Ldb FC Malmo. At least that's what I hear from the people running things in Europe. I'd say a team I've been impressed with, at least last yr when I saw them play at their home stadium was Quickstrike Lady Blues. A good amount of local talent, decent crowds, good results. To be fair I haven't seen anything this yr, only saw a few articles in passing but if they have kept it up, good for them. Seemed to be quietly just doing things right. And no I'm working for them, have worked for them, or dated anyone working for them. ;-)
Well it could be that the things you mention are symptoms of not having good long term planning rather than preventing long term planning -- or maybe that's what you meant?
Personally I think its a chicken and an egg thing. Or maybe more of the inequalities in the American public education system. Either way, they sort of perpetuate each other creating a downward spiral, which continues to plague many many teams, and more glaringly women's soccer teams, and most glaringly of all, women's soccer teams in the US.
